Likes
- Campus life of MANIT is the best life you will get, it just easily outruns that of IITs because of freedom and less academic pressure.
- It is the 2nd largest NIT in India, with 650 acres of lands, you can easily find your own spots to hangout with friends.
Dislikes
- The administration is really dull and irritates you with it's less transparency and management.
- Core companies for ece and ee rarely visits, max to max 5-6 per year
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is mostly traditional and outdated and needs improvement. You can get good GATE score if you follow the curriculum but you cannot learn the new technologies present in the real world and the real-world applications for the course is just a joke because of poor maintainance and unavailability of equipments in labs. The faculties just does not teach you, only youtube is the saving grace during exam time. Faculties would not complete the syllabus and still ask the question from the untouched parts. The frequency and timigs of exam are okay and the difficulty level depends on how pissed a faculty is from your class.
Internships Opportunities
Internship companies visits the college but they mostly prefers cse students. not many company visits for internship and as for placement many company visits. some core companies do visit for mech, chem like bajaj but they take 2-3 students only. avg stripend is around 30k-1.2lakhs.
Placement Experience
students get eligible for placement from 7th sem onwards. many top mncs visits like Microsoft, google, flipkart, amazon, goldman, jpmc, paypal, deshaw etc and takes the deserving candidate with offer ranging from 25-60 lpa. the cse, ece, mech and chem, placements are really nice. in 2024, highest package was provided by atlassian, 81 lpa. for cse, avg package was 15-16 lpa with 91-96 percent placement for ece, avg was 10-11 lpa with 75-85 percent placement for mech and chem, placement was almost 100 percent with avg package 7-9 lpa
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
For a general student, the tution fee per semester is RS 69,276 per semester, it includes caution fees, registration fees, admission fees, development fees, lab fees, wifi fees, electricity fees etc. Additionally, approx RS 30000 is charged for Hostel and Mess fees per semester. This 30000 should be paid by all category students. so a general student like me have to pay around RS 198,552 per year. For OBC NCL and GEN EWS students, tution fees shrinks down upto 28-29000 per sem. For SC/ST students, tution fees is just around 6,500 per semester. There is no scholarship provided by college on the basis of merit or cgpa.
Campus Life
There are 3 fests, 2 are organised by college councils, named maffick and techno search. one is organised by ecell, names E-summit. There are lots of books ranging from various magazines to course books in libraries which is 4 storey. there is smart tv in most classes that rarely works and the clssrooms in new teaching block are mostly like school. the sports activities are common with main sports played are football, cricket, volleyball, badminton etc. the sports complex is really big with gym facilities. The cultural society is called Roobaroo, which performs music, arts and dance on all three fests and is the the largest society of MANIT. other societies/clubs are tooryanad, ecell, a se aenak etc. Talking about campus life, you will experience the best life if you have a great friends and if you wants to get out of you comfort zone. Even bikes are allowed in the large campus and for boys the campus is open for 24 hours, with just a mere restrictions that is never a problem
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are average and food qualities of mess are below average. hostel fees are generally 20500 for single occupancy ad 18000 for double per sem. mess charges are 12-13k per sem, if you want a rented room or PG, best localities whithin 1 km radius is nehru nagar, aradhna nagar, mata mandir square, vaishali nagar.
Admission
I wanted a campus life and branch balance, so i chose MANIT, ECE. I was getting ECE in NIT Jamshedpur(lesser NIRF and opportunity than MANIT) and EE in MNNIT Jaipur, but I wanted to go in that field that is more related to software side and so I chose MANIT. I got MANIT through josaa counselling, in 6th round and there was no interview or any other test for this college apart form jee mains. MANIT has cse, ece, mathematics and data science, mech, chem, msme, civil,ee,mca, mba, B planning, B architecture and Mtech courses. cutoffs for general is mostly bw 8k-14k for ece
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is approx 1:5 in most branch except smaller branch like chem and msme where it is 1:3 The best faculties are of cse and ece departments. some of the names are DKR sir, lalita Gupta Maam, Rajeev Parmar Sir. they are really chill and supportive. Some of the faculties are really strict and unlikaeble . I don't really know their name but many faculties of Electical, Mech and Civil are just a robot machine and expects you to be the same, like Sanjeev sir and Mukesh kirar sir etc. each semester there is 3 exam, one is mini test of 10 marks, other is midterm test of 20 marks and lastly is endterm exam for 50 marks. remaining 20 marks is for attendance and assigment submissions. Most students are able to pass the examination. only 5 to 10 students of each branch are unable to clear the exams. The course curriculum is really relevant for the GATE examination and for the visiting companies for placements.
Interview Experience
you have to qualify JEE mains examination and get the desried cutoff rank for the specific branch. there is no additional interview or GD or written test to take admissions in this college. I prepared for JEE in kota for 2 years.
