Course Curriculum Overview
SRIT, being affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, follows the same curriculum as the university. The curriculum is old, the books prescribed in many of the subjects have become old, not updated and not following better and newer industry standards. The curriculum needs to be updated asap at least for CS or IT department that I know of. Good practises are not taught, neither paid attention to. For evergreen concepts, the curriculum covers most of the important concepts (not all) but for things that are ever-changing and updating(like programing languages, web technology, etc), the syllabus lags behind.
Placement Experience
Placement records and good companies coming to the college has declined, precisely after 2013,and now the record is miserably low. No matter how much placements college shows, very less number of them are throught college and placed at good place. Most are placed in bpo, or with there own contacts, or by themselves hunting jobs with no hand of college whatsoever. At the time of writing I am currently doing internship at Persistent Systems with 5000 INR stipend. The exam for internship was held at college but anyone could have given the exam. It was not all dependent on college.
College Events
Onyl one techfest is held in the college in 3 years. The management does not spend money in good events. There are occasional seminars (sub par in quality) held. Garba is celebratex every year. But those events which help in overall development of students are prganised seldom.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees is rock bottom. You can even study for free in the college depending solely on scholarship from state government. The college only aims to fill seats even if they have to depend on state scholarship only and not based on quality of student. However, the college should charge money to provide good facilities.
Fees and Financial Aid
State scholarship is available for reserved categories (OBC, SC, ST). None of the banks agree to provide student loan if you are in this college, and I have had experience in this because it was me was running erands for my classmate to get education loan and everytime he got a no, because the banks did not think the college was good enough that he can return the loan (these are the exact words I heard).
Campus Life
Sports is good in the college, but no extra time is given to students for this. They have to manage before or after college time. Also I have heard about politics in team building. Some lavs are good, most are bad, having old, non working equipments.
Alumni/Alumna
No alumni network is presented by college. We have to build network with seniors, juniors, and mates by ourselves. But it is always solid. Every student is helpful, crowd is very good and helpful. It all depends upon your personal nature. For me, this has been one of the best thing in the college.
Admission
I appeared for JEE - Mains and based on score of JEE, I sat for state engineering councelling. With my merit, I was selected for Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme and got admission through this category.
Faculty
Some of the faculties are very good, in terms of teaching capability, knowledge of the subject, experience and individual nature too. But some others make life miserable, and feel like they are teaching not because they dearly want to teach but because they can't get anything else to do.
