- Some of the classes are really bad and you have to sit through them.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum I think could be designed a bit better. People from finance background have an edge as we don't have any preparatory course for finance basics for engineers . Plus the quantitative courses are I think too theoretical without practical application. However I loved the elective on game theory . In the second year, we have courses based on our interests so it's a mixed ball.
Internships Opportunities
I interned at walmart global tech for product management. It is a 4 week compulsory internship project where we are given a project by the hiring manager of the company . After that there is a buddy assigned to each intern to help them throughout the process . At the end there is a final presentation to the entire team.
Placement Experience
People in first year have to sit for summer placements and in final year people with 18 months of workex are eligible for laterals in November and all students are eligible for finals in January of second year . Good companies like MBBK come for consulting . For prod we have walmart, Microsoft, atlassian and others : marketing me we have HUl, PNG, marico and others. Lots of good companies come . Almost everyone is placed .
Fees and Financial Aid
6 semesters with each semester fee being 3.25 lakhs. Apart from that there is mess fees each semester which is approximately 25k per student. This mess fees varies depending on night mess orders . Hostel fees is included within 3.25 lakhs. Apart from that there is admission fee of 1 lakh.
Campus Life
Main cultural fest is manfest varchasv which happens in February. Sangharsh is inter college sports annual competition between IIMs ABCL. The library is called Gyanoday and has a vast repository of offline and online books and reports. There is a computer centre. All sports facilities one can think of is available
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are good, depending on if you are allocated a new hostel or an old one. Older ones are larger in size but need repair. New ones are smaller but well maintained. There should be a fridge in every floor but we don't have that. Laundry services are available
Admission
I applied to all IIMs ( BLACKI) and was shortlisted only for Lucknow and converted it. Apart from it I got calls from SPJIMR, MDI, IITB and IIM MUmbai . I converted all of them. I did not clear XAT or IIFT.
Faculty
The faculty is mostly really prestigious and have years of experience. The faculty to student ratio is generally around 1:60 for each class . They are really approachable and eager to clear doubts post classes . Some of my favourite teachers were professor Suresh Jakhar and professor Himanshu Rathore ( operations) . Prof Sonia ( decision science) , prof Sangeeta Mishra and K.G sahadevan ( economics) . The exams are relatively graded, that means you are graded based on how your peers performed . So even if you score very high in one test, doesn't mean you will score A+ in that subject if the test was easy and others performed well too. But it's easy to get marks to just pass even with last minute prep. What is tough is to fail or to be in the top 50 .
Interview Experience
My wat had the topic of ' Women empowerment' and the time given was 15 minutes. There was no GD. In the interview I was asked about a basic introduction and hobbies. As I told them about my hobbies of sketching and poetry , they asked me to show them proof . So I showed printouts which I had brought. After that they asked me questions on my work experience, general affairs pertinent to my line of work.
