Course Curriculum Overview
I liked to learn about computer so i chose this curriculum. I have learned a lot about computers, programming and solving real life problems. It helped me improving my problem solving skills. The improvements that i want to make in this curriculum is, i would like to increase more practical learning than theoretical. I would love to learn every topic by implementing it in real life scenarios which would help me solving real life problems very efficiently. Also i would like to be our teachers teach us not only the theoretical things but also make us implement all those things in the real world. The frequency of examination is quite normal as it should be. It gives us time to study as well as midterms help us prepare for final semester in an efficient manner. Also the difficulty level is not so hard if you are well prepared and followed classes regularly.
Internships Opportunities
Some companies that offered college students for internships are mastercard, jp morgan, Goldman Sachs, etc. they were offering software engineer roles. Mainly they are summer internships which willast aroung 2 to 2.5 months. I have not done any internship since i am focused only on GATE exam.
Placement Experience
Campus placements in our college is quite decent. Generalky placements start from then end of 3rd year and continues till end of 4th year. TCS, Congnizant, Wipro, Capgemini, IBM, Accenture, Mastercard, GreyB, are some of the many companies that visits UEM for campusing. The average package is 8.48 lpa. The highest package is 72 lakhs that a student got from MBA stream. Generally UEM claims 100% students getting placed, but recently the placements went down and not even 30% students are placed in last two months. Perhaps, I am not preparing for interviews. I am a GATE aspirant. So i am looking forward to M.tech from a good college.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearwise fees: rs. 170000/- Registration fees: 5000 one time 1st semester Examination fees 2000 per semester Admission charges 5000 non refundable one time Per semester fee: 60,000 I have not got scholarship since it requires you to have 85% in 12th Also this course is very costly and not so affordable for everyone.
Campus Life
There are not so many sports events in our college. However there are lots of tech fests and events that are being conducted frequently. Some of them are hackathons, hack fest, etc. Other non tech events includes Eutopia, Euphoria, etc. Our college curriculum does not give importance to extracurricular activities as much as academics. This creates a lot of problem for students, since attendance is very strict in our college, which doesn't allow students to participate in those events as their attendance will not be marked if absent. There are quite groups run by students of UEM, for example theatrix, UEMK coding club, etc.
Admission
I have not applied to any other colleges. UEM is the first college where i had applied for the first and last time. I chose this college as it is the closest from my home where i did not have to live in hostel. Secondly it has decent placements. Lastly i saw many positive reviews about the college that it is one of the best private colleges in the eastern region of india. Coming to admission process, students need to appear for IEMJEE, an entrance exam for admission in IEM-UEM group. Students should also have to score 70% in their 12th in order to get cse and allied stream.
Faculty
Course structure is good since it is up-to-date with the industry. It includes artificial intelligence, machine learning, quantum computing which are newer technologies. Talking about exam system, in every semester there are 3 exams - 2 midterms and 1 final (for both theoretical and practical). Apart from that there is viva that is held. The faculties i like - Sumit Anand sir (programming), Varsha Poddar(DBMS), Dinabandhu Saha (finance). They really teach us in such a manner that understanding gets easier. They are soft spoken and are kind to students. On the other hand the faculties that i dont like are Bipasha Mukhopadhyay(technical subjects), Niladri Sekhar Paul(programming, DSA), Sudipto Dhar (Theory of Computation). Whatever is taught in class by the teachers, nothing comes out of that in exams. You just have to follow classes regularly and make a note of it in order to achieve good grades in the semester. So for me it is quite easy to score if you are prepared.
