Course Curriculum Overview
The aspects of the curriculum thatade me choose this course is its vastness of knowledge about various aspects of human body, and how to treat the abnormalities that arise in the human body. And also my own willingness to treat the affected part of society. The curriculum, so far, makes us well prepared for facing the patients and helping them out with their problems. Improvement can be done in provision of proper equipment for the doctors and also provision of proper amount of doctors in the hospital to prevent overworking of present people. The exams held quite frequently, have been helpful and have been difficult but help us in finals. The timing too is good enough.
Internships Opportunities
Internship in the campus hospital is still not being offered since 2022 batch is the first batch and currently studying second year here. But yeah, it would be available once we complete our final year in 2026.
Fees and Financial Aid
Payment year wise - 26000 (14000 tuition fees and 12000 hostel fees) If you want to leave College, payment of 20 lakhs should be done. But first year fees were about 60000 Rupees for OBC category, which has included in itself a range of payment categories, which includes library fees, tuition fees, hostel fees, admission fees, development fees etc. amongst others. For SC and ST, the payment fees are somewhere between 20000 and 40000 rupees including all the aforementioned categories. Our state Government provides scholarship programme, mainly to help those who are underprivileged and not in stable financial condition. It is merit based.
Campus Life
The only and only annual festival held in our college is the Freshers party every year generally between February and May, to welcome the first year students into our campus. The payment for the same comes right out of our own pocket money, since our management refuses to pay even a penny for the same. Except that there is no annual fest held or no religious festivals celebrated here, because our management focuses a lot on secularism. There are a wide range of books written by different authors. They are accessible free of cost for the students of the college. The classroom is digital based setup, with lectures explained in PowerPoint slides, and an extra chalk and board too for diagram and table drawing purpose. Our college also has very good lab facility. No proper infrastructure allotted for sports and extracurricular activities since our management is purely study oriented unlike other medical colleges. There are no student run clubs or social groups or portals as of today.
Hostel Facilities
The new hostels are yet to be constructed fully. The current hostels we live in are well enough for us to live. The boys' hostels are provided with attached bathrooms, and round the clock water service provision. Also food is available in time supplied by the caterers. Food quality was bad at first but now there have been no complaints so far ever since the new contract person came, in June. Registration for hostel would be done during the admission into the college itself and is affordable at low cost. No room or PG rented at this locality.
Admission
I have applied to all colleges all over the state, but chose this college because it is quite near to my home compared to others. I haven't been rejected by other colleges. The selection process is based on NEET examination marks and ranking, also based on our category. For government medical colleges, cutoffs can go as high as 640 to 670 for general category and 620 for OBC, and for SC and ST, 540 to 550 via All India Quota admission. The state quota cutoffs varies according to state medical education boards. Admission process is good and neatly done.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio for each department ranges between 1:20 and 1:50, depending on the number of lecturers, Senior residents and PGs present here. The faculties are always in touch with the students and always approachable by the students. I liked all the faculties present her, for they have been approachable as mentioned before, and helpful and concerned about our studies as well. Though I did not like the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology due to their harsh ways of teaching. Every month, there would be about two or three part completion tests held every subject, also called formative assessments, for each chapter completed by the faculty. And there are three internal assessments held every year for each subject, and based on the marks we get the and the attendance we have, we are either sent to write the final exams or detained for supplementary examinations, generally held for those who fail in final examinations.
