Modern College: Yay or Nay?

The curriculum follows the NEP and is quite practical and theoretical at the same time, it is very well balanced. Internals are conducted every 2nd month of the new semester and mid semester in the 3rd month and End semester in the middle of the 4th month. It keeps students busy and packed altogether.

There are multiple internships available in the field of psychology in the department. Various schools, hospitals, NGOs, orphanages recruits/hire psychology students for their benefit and train them in the field and provide them with real time experience.

The registration fees is around ?50-100. The fees structure varies from course to course. Bachelor of Arts per semester fees for FY is ?20k-25k. The fees is lesser for EWS, SC, ST, OBC, etc. it may range between ?15-20k

In September the psychology department is organising a suicide prevention campaign, which involves students of all departments. Books and journals are very easily available in the library or in the department of that particular subject. Playgrounds are maintained for sports like basketball, football, badminton, tennis, etc. The NSS has tied up with the college and it recruits and trains students who are interested in the Defense.

I applied to Christ Bangalore, Mithbai College, Jai Hind, Xavier's and Ferguson College. I got confirmed admission in the first 3 colleges as I have mentioned, I chose this college due to convience and the faculty. I didn't get Xavier's and FC due to the high cut offs. The admission process is all merit based. The cut off changes with respect to English and Marathi medium courses.

The faculty is really good and very well educated in their respective fields. Almost all of them have PhDs or Doctrates. The faculty is very helpful and sweet to all students without any bias. In BA you are required to choose 3 major subjects, 1 Open Elective and 2 Language based subjects for FY. In SY you may choose any 1 major out of the 3. Every semester internals and assignments are given alot of weightage, and the end semester exam is of 60 marks. The internals are between moderate to hard level of difficulty it really checks whether you've understood the syllabus or not.
