Dislikes
- Karunya is a Christian minority college and all their prayers are Christian oriented.
- Just like every college karunya too has no ragging and no women harassing policy but the problem arises when students are not even allowed to talk to the opposite sex about anything except academics.
- Karunians are not allowed to go outside the hostel even on holidays.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college has been accredited with A++ by NAAC which speaks a lot about the quality of it's curriculum. The curriculum includes core courses that equip one to be able to take on any core or non-core jobs. The curriculum includes courses on how to do electrical drawing and various other skill sets. Each internals occur at an interval of three months. For anyone who has studied well the exams wil be a breeze.
Internships Opportunities
Karunya College provides a huge opportunity for internship. Karunya has MoU with many industries and companies where you can go for industry training and also for internship. After completing your degree you can also get a job at the same company if they are impressed by your work.
Placement Experience
Placements begin from the 6th semester (3rd year end). Placements come from various companies like Accenture, Ascendion, Amazon, Bosch, Cognizant, Cisco, Infosys, Wipro, Tata, etc. The placements provided have a package of minimum 4.5LPA reaching upto 48LPA. Each students receive atleast two placements package. Students can also apply for other packages from other companies. The selection process has two steps: first an exam based on the job and an direct interview. About 85% of students get jobs and the rest eitger goes for higher education or an entrepreneurship. My plan is to get a job at good company with high LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
During registration you have to pay 1k registration fee and to get an admission you have to pay 49k so, a total of 50k.After securing an admission you can either opt to pay the first sem fee online or pay during the enrollment process when you come to tge college. Campus Life
The campus life is superb. Recently I have registered for the rovers club (a sub-club of NSS) and there was a selection for it the last day. The selection process comprises of two steps. First step includes a 800 meter run, 1 minute shuttle run and pushups. The second step is an interview based on social service. The infrastructure is great, each buildings comprises of three departments and each of them has amble space. Each departments have their own library(for teachers and can be used by students also) and a common library with over 2 lakhs books on various topics. Each classroom is provided with a blackboard and a projector. There are various university sports team including a cricket team, a volleyball team, a football team for both girls and boys.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are exceptional. The first years can choose either a four person non-ac room or a three person ac room. The rooms have power socket for each students which can withstand the load of an iron box. The free Wi-Fi is also available in the rooms. There is a cupboard and a table for each students which can be locked. A water filter is placed in each wings of the building. A vending machine is also available in the ground floor. There are five types of mess available, they are:Kerala mess, South mess, Andhra mess, North mess and NRI mess. The food is good and tasty. The hostel fee us affordable and for NRI mess you have to pay an fee of 6.2k and for the ac rooms an extra of 54k.
Admission
Before joining Karunya I looked into Sree Thyagaraja College. At that time I was looking to take B. Sc data science and analytics, which Thyagaraja College has. After a great consideration I decided to not choose B. Sc as it is not a job oriented course. Instead I decided to chose B. Tech. After asking to my cousins I came to the conclusion that Electrical and Electronics Engineering is the best course for me. Now the next step was to find a good college. I looked into Jyothi Engineering College for this course. The reason I looked into it was because my great uncle is a professor there and he said that it was a great college. He also said that it is a strict college and has great placements. But after asking around I realized that Jyothi College was getting lesser and lesser placements over the years. So I decided to join Karunya deemed to be university where my cousins studied. The eligibility is 12th pass and entrance exam like keam is accepted.
Faculty
All the faculty of karunya college are highly educated and very interested in helping students achieve their full potential. The faculty-to-studio ratio is somewhat around 1:5 and all of them encourage students to come to them for any doubt clarification. To get a degree you need to have 166 credits, which are attained through various courses and projects over the years. The exam system goes like this, three internals, of which first is mcq, and also a project each year. Each courses have either two or three credits according to the content. All the internals and projects are turned to 60 marks, initially 100 marks each, and added with 40 marks externals, which includes attendance and other. The faculty I liked the most was Sir Benin, who is my mentor. He is really caring and takes time in teaching to make sure we all understand. The best faculty will surely be Sir Immanuel, our Hod, who is ranked in the top 2% scientists in India.
