Remarks

I am completely happy with my decision to choose Ahmedabad University over other premier universities owing to the amazing learning experience here. The liberal education and various events bring the students of all the branches and schools together creating an opportunity to learn and grow together. However, I am a little unhappy with the recent changes in the engineering school where a few great faculties have left and the field of ICT has been closed and the department of CSE has been placed instead. I really wish that the new faculties being recruited to fill in the vacant positions are as good as the ones who left.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I pursued Information and Communication Technology at Ahmedabad University and hence had a lot of electives to choose from during my BTech. The course curriculum is diverse and offers a comprehensive study on all subjects. Also, I participated in the Under Graduate Research Programme (UGRP) starting from my second year in an internationally funded research project co-PIed by one of the faculties in Ahmedabad University, ending up with two publications in highly reputed IEEE conferences. I will be pursuing my masters in computer science at Arizona State University in the USA and I would credit my journey at Ahmedabad University for helping me reach there.

Placement Experience

3

Since the school has been recently established, the placement is still not up to the mark. However, a few good companies/startups with great projects have come for on-campus placements and internships.

Fee Structure And Facilities

BTech in Information and Communication Technology: Rs. 1,63,000 per year. The first year includes an extra amount of Rs. 6500 for the Career Development Center (CDC/Placement) services and a caution deposit worth Rs. 10,000, which will be refunded at the end of your degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

I received a full-tuition waiver under the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS) offered by the ACPC where 5% of students in each university can avail this scholarship.

Campus Life

5

The campus is very lively and becomes more fascinating in the evening. Every student here is given the autonomy to use the rooms and labs without any particular permission encouraging and facilitating them to work on their projects in groups till late at night.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, alumni network at Ahmedabad University is decently strong. The seniors who opt for masters after their bachelors help the juniors in choosing the best university and helping them settle in the new environment. Also, the seniors refer the juniors in the companies where they are working currently helping the currently enrolled students to get internships and jobs easily.

Admission

In 2015 after completing my 12th standard, I participated in the ACPC undergraduate admission process and filled my preference list of colleges for Computer Science. My ACPC rank was 765 out of 60,000 students participating, hence I had a pretty decent chance of getting into premier institutions of Gujarat. In the second round of ACPC, I was offered admission to Ahmedabad University with a full tuition waiver in Information and Communication Technology and I also had an offer from Nirma University in Computer Science. I interacted with students at Ahmedabad University and liked the project-based learning and research-oriented pedagogy as well as the faculty, compelling me to choose Ahmedabad University.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty was highly qualified and the minimum criteria for any faculty to get into the university was a Ph.D. during my tenure at Ahmedabad University. However, a few major changes in the faculties have been observed in the engineering school lately, where three distinguished faculties left the school abruptly, leaving my juniors in a vulnerable state.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is well-strutured and covers fundamental concepts in a clear and systematic manner. As a first-semester student I found the subjects helpful in building a strong base for futher studies. The syllabus balances theory with practical exposure which helps in understanding real-worls applications.Faculty members explain concept clearly, through adding more hands-on projects and industry-oriented topics would make the curriculum even better.Overall the curriculum is relevent comprehensive and suitable for beginners but it can be improved with more practical sessions and updated content aligned with current industry trends.

Placement Experience:

Placement in this college is quite good and it also depends on the grades of the students. Highest package goes to 14 lakhs per annum and the average package goes to 5 to 6 lakhs per annum. As the students enter into their 7th semester the placement process gets started and the students will go into th selected companies in their 8th semester and if the worked well their they can also get PPO which means that they can do their job for permanent time. Percentage of the students last time who got placed in big MNCs company goes to 87 percent and the rest students got their placement in some small company. My plan after my b tech degree is to get higher studies in Mtech by score a good mark in the GATE exam which is going to be held in February month.
