Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum appeared intersting and useful to my ambition which influenced my decision to choose the course. Honestly, the curriculum is not very practical but mostly bookish and doesn't prepare one for real-world applications. One needs to go through another practical training. The course curriculum needs to be practical and teaching methods need to be a little interesting and use modern inputs. The given time to cover the syllabus for every semester is 6 months but in actuality, it gets reduced to some 3 ½ months which causes the teachers to rush the syllabus. The frequency and timing of the exam is okay. The difficulty level of the exam depends on how one has prepared for the exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
No such policy as the tuition fee increase policy was witnessed. In fact, it remained constant. The complete cost of my education was quite affordable. The college very rarely imposed compulsory charges. The scholarships that were available to students were post-matric scholarships and state merit scholarships. The amount of money received through these scholarships was 10 thousand or more and 15 thousand or more respectively. The opportunity to undertake campus employment was zero.
Campus Life
The annual festival held in the college is the "harbinger festival ", a week-long festival that covers literacy, culture, sports, etc. The festival is typically held in the spring. The range of books and journals available in the Library is vast. There's every book available for research and studies for students. The classrooms are digitalized. There are projectors in every classroom. The college pays great attention to Sports and extracurricular activities. The college supports athletes and aids them in State or national competitions.
Admission
The course of admission is through an entrance examination. There is no cutoff. The application form, application dates, and fees can be found on the college website i.e. https://dimapurgovtcollege.in. There's a reservation of a couple of seats for athletes and disabled students. The exam is not really difficult and only tests the basic knowledge of the students. The admission process is quite fair and needs no area of improvement in my opinion.
Faculty
The qualifications of the faculty members are quite good. However, there's an imbalance in faculty-to-student ratio. The faculty-to-student ratio can be 120:1 which makes it pretty difficult for the teaching-learning process. Nevertheless, the faculties are well experienced and provide good teaching and mentorship. Interaction with the teachers amount to less due to limited number of faculties and huge numbers of students.
