Likes
- Hostel were very well made, neat and clean. Had gym and playing area as well. Good environment. Laundary and cleaning services were also available.
- Equipment that are required in the BDS course were available and in good condition. Support staff including the lab technician were helpful and cooperative. Classroom were big and well structured, equipped with projectors and white boards.
- The prices for availing treatment were minimal and affordable. All patients were attained and waiting time was zero for the patients.
Dislikes
- Located far from the main town areas hence difficult to reach for the students and the patients as well.
- Patient load is comparatively lesser than other dental colleges of the state.
- Lack of staff in departments often lead to many difficulties for the students. At times a single teacher is teaching more than 1 subject.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course and the curriculum of the college is exactly what is suggested by the Dental council of India. It is very well rounded and not only includes dental subjects but also medical subjects like anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, Medicine etc. The curriculum is although very stressful to a average student and requires determination. The student has to study regularly and also do the clinical work accurately. The course makes the students well rounded and trains them for the hardships of the world.
Internships Opportunities
The college provides internship in its own hospital. The internship lasts for about 1 year and the stipend is about 500rs per month. The student is posted in various departments and provided with patient for practice purposes. 1 year mandatory internship is provided in this college.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tution fees is around 85000-90000 for students who join the college through state quato. Paid seats are also available in the college as it is a private dental college which cost almost double the amount. The tution fees increase by 10% every year for 4 academic years. The college provides internship free of cost for 1 year after completing the BDS course. Campus placement are not provided as this course does not have campus based job opportunities.
Campus Life
Fests and annual events are done regularly. Yearly sports events are also organised. Quizes and competition like rangoli making, soap carving, dancing etc are also organised. The college campus is also secluded from the main town hence it is less happening and does not have many entertainment means.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is very good. The rooms are neat and clean. The size of the rooms are very big and can easily accommodate 3 students. Each student is provided with table, chair, book shelf, cupboard, bed with bed box, mattress and pillow. The hostel also has private gym, playing area, common TV room and terrace for leisure activities of students.
Admission
The cutt off for this college depends on the state cutt off of Himachal Pradesh in NEET examination. Any student who has qualified the examination can take admission in this college based on his or her rank. Generally every year the cutt off is around 130/720 marks in NEET examination.
Faculty
The faculty is well experienced and qualified. Each department has an HOD who hold a Master's degree in their respective subject. Teachers are always available to the students and the patients during college hours. Although the faculty is inadequate in number. Some department have no teachers or a single teacher. Some teachers are teaching more than 1 subject. Some of the teachers are also very strict with the students and do not help them as much as they need. Not very cooperative but know their subjects very well. The clinical work is very well thought to the students.
