Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The curriculum of this course comprises of different subjects from this biotechnology field. In the first semester, the university introduced the basic curriculum that provides basic knowledge of each subject that introduces the students to newest field. Later on, it incorporates advanced information in further semesters. Along with the theoretical subject, each subject has its laboratory class as well. The bad side is EXAMS! The university randomly sets the datesheet as sometimes it gives some holidays for easy subject and gives just 1 or 2 holidays in difficult subjects. Moreover, they took exams in just four days setting 2 exams per day. I found this to be the downside of this University as it affects the grades of students. Also, it has a grade system which is ridiculous. The highest scorer for example having 95% marks gets A+ while 94.8% will get only A. Hence, it affects the grades of students even if they are 1 mark behind the topper. So, I believe that it needs to be changed.

Internships Opportunities

3

I took a project in 5th semester under the supervision of professor. Also, I took internship in my summer break but that was not referred by the university. Also, it depends on courses, that whether you will get an internship from University or not .

Placement Experience

3

In the last semester, Students get eligible for the placements. The placements here are good no doubt, but the thing is there is high competition. If one company comes for the placement it only gives chance to the deserving candidates and out of hundreds students, 4 or 5 students got selected.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition fees here increases every year. I took admission in 2020 in Bsc Biotechnology and at that time fees was 40k per semester but at present it is above 70k per semester. However, the university offers various scholarships based on CUET exam, marks in 12th class .

Campus Life

4.5

In terms of cultural functions, Chandigarh University is the best university as there are various types of functions that held on regular basis. Students can take part in co-curricular activities and spend a great time on the campus. Various cultural events also take place and student clubs have been formed here.

Admission

I was exploring the universities for my Bachelor's and one day I got a call from the Chandigarh University and went for the counseling session. There I found this University to be the one for pursuing my Bachelor's. However, there are other ways also as one can give the CUET exam here for the admission. As per my knowledge, there is no reservation benefit.

Faculty

4

The faculty here are highly qualified and hold advanced degrees (specifically Ph.D or equivalent) in their fields. Many have significant experience and academic background that make the faculty at Chandigarh University an important factor in maintaining the reputation of the University. Regular interaction of faculty with students is crucial, therefore teachers at Chandigarh University make sure to interact with the students on regular basis. After giving any lecture, professors ask the students about any doubts or questions they have regarding the topic. They make sure to clear students' doubts so that they learn better. Moreover, the management of Chandigarh University has best strategies to know about students' feedback, therefore after completion of semester they release an e-form and ask the students to rate their experience with respective professors. Moreover, this feedback is anonymous and doesn't reveal students' information. Also, professors engage with the students outside.

The fact that you are able to decide your major is important if you wish to pursue research in a particular field of one of the sciences (physics, chemistry or biology), or mathematics, but if you are interested in interdisciplinary research, no major system of mohali is better.

Faculty: Teacher are highly efficient, all of them are from a great background. But teaching quality is something which varies from person to person. The course curriculum is very good but the semester time period is less so kind of little difficult and more semester stress. Placements: People find it on their own, and they go for Higher Studies like PhD and Post Doc etc. Infrastructure: Co-ed Hostel with full Wi-Fi support and for the first 2 years two students live together in single room and from 3rd year onwards they get separate single room. Mess system available, 3 mess you can eat in any of them on pay and eat basis. Health center is there, all the sports facilites and gym is also there.

Remarks:

No doubt IHM Bathinda is one the best college in terms of hotel management and also of the province of Punjab. One should be fortunate enough if he/she gets in here and get the preferred choice, rest all of us are polished by the college itself. Our college management is too strict about following the rules but ultimately it is good for the students. Faculty and environment you are getting in the college are also good for studies creating competitiveness among students.
