Likes
- The college has a decent enough campus size with decent sports facilities, auditoriums and is aesthetically pleasing.
- The faculty is well-qualified and experienced, the labs are decent and academics of the college is very great, producing top GATE rankers each year.
- The placements are decent, thanks to the ever growing alumni network. It has over a 100 year legacy and produced many entrepreneurs, bureaucrats and technocrats for the nation.
Dislikes
- The infrastructure is old since the college is over a 100 years old, but the administration is trying renew the old infrastructure to facilitate cutting edge research, development and supplement the student experience.
- The administration can seem orthodox and strict at times, but it's rather to maintain discipline and promote a atmosphere of learning and inquisitiveness.
- Being a state government college, little to no interaction of other state cultures and languages. Most of the students are from UP itself and that makes the environment too complacent.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college curriculum is very relevant and ever since the institute was converted into an autonomous University, its curriculum is updated regularly to match the ever growing industry and give an edge to students during placements. The relevance of the curriculum enhances the employability of the students and thereby producing able technocrats with sufficient knowledge to cater of the industry needs.
Placement Experience
There a Traning & Placement Cell that ensures training the students to appear for various rounds of interview to prove their employability. The placement rate is an impressive 80 percent, with some branches like Paint Technology overseeing 100 percent placement since decades. The highest package is over a crore under normal circumstances while lowest is 4 LPA. Thr average is around 8-10 LPA. Many students also go for GATE to works in PSUs.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is low, when compared to central universities. The fees is around ?1,35,000 with little to no hike. Over that, the state government also offers various scholarships to students. Some seats are even reserved for fee waiver candidates. Even private trusts also come forward to assist students financially. Various banks also provide loans to students. Various companies also visit the campus due to its proximity with IIT Kanpur and hire students with a decent compensation.
Campus Life
There is Adhyay (cultural fest), Technika (technical fest), Hunkaar (literary fest) that ensure the proper exposure of students. The college also has various clubs which host various competitions, activities and workshops to upskill students. The clubs and fests are managed by student bodies and are supplemented by adequate funds and infrastructure to carry out various extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.
Admission
The admission is through Joint Entrance Exam Mains rank. The cutoff is vaires every year and depends of various factors like number of students appearing for the exam, number of applicants etc. Seats are reserved for SC, ST and OBC students, there's also female reservation, however, its important to note that over ninety percent of the seats are reserved exclusively for UP students.
Faculty
The faculties are decent, well experienced and have a decent industry experience too. Although, some faculties, at times, will be hard to deal with, but it's an engineering college afterall, there can't be all sunshine and rainbows. The faculties are always there to deal with the doubts and even facilitate career guidance and personal growth of the students
