Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Since the 2019 batch, the college has been following the CBME curriculum according to NMC guidelines, like all medical colleges throughout India. It is aimed at making the medical graduates good clinicians while also aiding in their holistic development by including sessions like self directed learning and attitude, ethics and communication (AETCOM). The students are also encouraged to develop their communication skills by taking seminars

Internships Opportunities

4

Since it is a medical college, there are no placements or internships from outside companies. The students undergo a compulsory internship in the hospital itself, covering all the departments and they are paid a stipend of around 22-23k

Fees and Financial Aid

Since it is a government medical college, the tuition fee is really cheap and affordable, that is, around Rs 12000 for the first year and around 5000- 7000 for the subsequent years. The fee structure has remained constant for a long time. The hostel fees come to around 6000-7000 per month which is slightly on the higher side. Scholarship is available for students of lower economic groups and for students from government schools. There is compulsory rotatory internship for students for one year once they complete their final year and the interns are paid a stipend of around 22-23k per month

Campus Life

4

There is a good amount of interaction between seniors and juniors of various batches. Annually, 3 major events are held in the college, which are , the culturals with magazine release, tamil mandram and sports day. These are held at a grand scale with the active participation of the students. There are courts for badminton and volleyball and a ground for cricket and football. There are teams for each of the major sports and they practice regularly. There are 2 libraries in the college, with a vast number of books and journals from various authors

Hostel Facilities

3.5

2-3 people are allotted per room and each person gets a single cot, a cupboard, a chair and a table. There are 2 fans and 2 lights in every room and it's adequately spacious. There are common bathrooms and toilets in every floor and they are cleaned regularly. The mess is student run, but the quality of food is lacking at times and it feels like it's not worth the mess fee that is paid

Admission

Admission is solely based on NEET scores as it is a government medical college. A state rank of around 900-1000 will get you a seat in this college. There are seats reserved for All India Quota and those seats are filled by a separate all India quota counseling. There is a 7.5 percent reservation quota for government school students, along with the usual reservations for OBC, SC and ST. On choosing this college during counseling, you'll be allotted a date when you'll have to come to the campus for the admission process

Faculty

4

There are atleast 7 to 8 faculties for all pre clinical subjects and more than even 10 for some clinical subjects and they're all highly qualified with good clinical experience. The lecture classes are sometimes not up to the mark, but the clinical classes are always very useful and informative with good practical oriented teaching. Mentors have also been assigned to students in most of the subjects for doubt clarification and personal improvement

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course is very challenging obviously as we're studying to become doctors. it could've been better by increasing the duration of the course. our first year/ semester instead of it being for 12 months was only of 9-10 months so our portions are being pushed a little. it happened due the scam etc around neet and our course start date was pushed. the course could be made easier by increasing the duration of the course. we have exams every week which does make it easier to keep up with the portions but makes it too stressful for us. maybe instead of keeping exams on monday they could change it to saturday so we can relax and be free on sundays.
