  • at times it felt the management didn't understand our work during film projects.

Course Curriculum Overview :

In my bachelors I knew I wanted to do something in films and during my final year I started searching for colleges for pgd. XIC is one of the few colleges that provides practical knowledge to students instead of focusing more on theoretical knowledge.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The tuition fee increases every year which I feel is too much compared to the facilities provided in terms of film budget, study trips and equipment's. Also seeing the nature of our course I knew we can't expect college placements like it happens in other courses but there was no networking provided.

Campus Life :

Two fests are held Ikshana and Istoria. Ikshana is held in the month of oct or November and Istoria in February. The library is one of the best due to it's range of books for every course. The technical facilities should be improved. The addition of theatre is very nice.

Admission :

Bachelors in any course with 60% marks was the eligibility criteria. The forms, fees and dates are regularly updated on XIC website. Not much idea about reservation benefits. Had an online entrance exams with objective and subjective questions and was called for an offline interview afterwards.

Faculty :

The faculty and students developed quite a good bond. The number of students felt more to me as somewhere not everyone got the chance to show their potential fully or even explore. The faculties however did their best to make our learning experience easy and better. The faculty that taught us were amiable and easily approachable. Not only they provided guidance in class but also helped us figure out many things as due to the nature of our course of study not much information is available on internet and people like us with no connections in the industry the industry professionals as our faculty helped us a lot. Some of the faculty even helped some students to get jobs or in connect with people who provided them jobs.

Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication - [SIMC] | Master of Arts [MA] (Audio-Visual)

The fee was very high

Placement Experience:

The college doesn't really privide any placements for a film course, however top brands and companies visit the campus for other courses with generous packages and profiles. The percentage of students getting place is a near 98% percent which the institute boasts of

The college not only looks after the academics but also all other co curricular activities to enhance the skills of the students. It has a counselling centre too to help out students. The fests help you show your leadership skills.

Remarks:

The management is good and provides all the help you need. The surrounding is ultimate. The place is like a resort. Alumni network used to be active on the first year. As of now it is inactive. Personal relations are there with some of the juniors. College does not take any initiative.

Entrance Preview:

No entrance exam is taken for this course, the student has two options to get the admission, one is to go online on the website and fill the application form and make the payment online or visit the college's academic office and procure the prospectus and form and fill the form and submit it there itself. The whole process is very easy and it involves a round of interview.

Placement Experience:

Placements offered through the college campus is very good. More than 90% of the students get placed every year to the most reputed companies with a very good package. Even startups shows very interest in these students since major work for a startup is to advertise themselves at a very low cost.

First round written. Second round interview and audition. Third round 3 day workshop. It is the best film institute in Asia with great infrastructure, industry professionals as visiting faculty and great philosophy of learning and living.

Placement Experience:

Most technicians at the highest levels are Ftii alumnus. Acting passout from FTII itself carries value and grants an audience for any kind of role. The rest of it depends on the individual's hard work. But the institute provides everything one needs.
