What Students Say
Likes
- The faculty and clinical infrastructure of the college is very good and the teachers are helpful and understandable.
- The university provide very good sports facilities and great infrastructure with circket ground, volleyball court, basketball court, football ground, 400m synthetic running tract.
Dislikes
- The hostels which undergraduate students get are very old and lack basic amenities. There is water shortage very often in the mornings and the hostel buildings aren't very clean and hygienic as well.
- There is no placement cell in the college which is a major disappointment for students as they have to seek out for jobs themselves after the college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very big as we've got a lot of subjects. Since the college is in Haryana so the course mainly focuses on Ruminant Animals for productivity and the other animals are taught as comparative to them. In veterinary colleges, the main animals in different states decide the curriculum for veterinary colleges in that state. The internal exams are held 3 times a year and then final exams.
Internships Opportunities
The college doesn't have any placement cell, but all the students get intership in the college hospital for 6 months and 6 months in another college of different state for exposure which is very good I think. Some students do get placements tho even without placement cell, those who are very good in clinics, they get recommended by the teachers and they'll get a job straight out of college.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees is around 280000 for the entire 4 and a half year of course. There is around 50% fees scholarship from haryana government to all girl students taking admission. Scholarship of around 18000Rs. is given to top 10 students each year and 28000Rs. to top girl students. The students for All India VCI quota also get Rs. 36000 each year if they maintain 7.0 or above GP in exams
Campus Life
There is usually only one annual event and that is The Freshers Party if you want to consider that an event. The library is amazing. There are a lot of books related to veterinary for our studies and other social books as well. The sports events are something that happens regularly. There is compulsory sports class for BVSc students each week.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel buildings are very old, I think they were build before 2000s, so they have issues like water leaking sometimes in rains, the toilets and bathrooms in the hostel are very average at best, so you'll have to adjust to that if you want to take hostel, but the hostels aren't compulsory so you can live outside as well. The annual fees of hostel vary from Rs5000 to Rs7500 for different years. So they're affordable .
Admission
All the students who took medical in class 11th and 12th PCB and who gave NEET exam are eligible. The admission are done on the basis of NEET score only and no university exam. After NEET, on the LUVAS University website you can fill application form, then you'll get seat allotment online in 1st round of counselling. The next rounds for vacant seats are held offline in University Auditorium.
Faculty
The faculty is well qualified. There are at least 5 professors for each subject, so the student-to-faculty ratio is around 4. There are also counsellors for students to seek help if they struggle in anything in college. Most of the teachers are PHDs from reputed college of the country and a few professors have done their higher studies from USA and UK like countries.
