Credited with a magnificent past, excellent present and a future that is promising, College of Veterinary Sciences, Hisar, Haryana was established with the objective of developing veterinary education as well as research. Since its inception, the college has been playing an important role in nurturing livestock sector for the purpose of rural development through several activities. By grooming students, the college desires to protect the health of animals and increase the production by the means of creative higher education as well as research in the field of veterinary sciences. The objective of teaching and research is to catalyze environment friendly animal health that is sustainable. The boost in production will result in alleviation of poverty while increasing the standard of living of rural areas. The motto of veterinary education does not just cultivate knowledge but also offers veterinarians with the skill and competence to form a progressive society.

1. Organized Departments for academics –The college has ensured that all the departments are organized and advanced. With qualified and dedicated faculty members, the college even has contemporary laboratory that meets the objective of practical training of veterinary professionals.

2. Teaching Veterinary Clinical Service Complex –The college has 14 departments in total. It even has a Teaching Veterinary Clinical Service Complex that is equipped with ultra modern multi-disciplinary infrastructure for diagnosing and treating infectious as well as non-infectious diseases of both livestock and poultry. It offers 24 hour service for treatment and care of sick animals.

3. Exposure to students –The college has made the provision of different facilities like Veterinary Unit Substation, TVCSC RRS, UCHANI (Karnal), Disease Free Small Animal House, Wildlife Health Centre, College Central Laboratory, Veterinary & Livestock Development Diploma Section to give students exposure in the fields.

The BVSc is of 5 years course. The candidates under all categories must have passed in each of the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology of 10+2 and obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of these subjects (except SC category) from a “recognized*/ approved Board of School Education having equivalence by Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE), New Delhi/CBSE/ICSE and also by Board of School Education Haryana, Bhiwani”.
