Course Curriculum Overview
As we know that AI-ML will be on top in the future. So I opted AI-ML in this university as it started that branch from 2021 batch. So this course offered a variety of subjects that will be very useful to grow in the field of AI-ML. It is not only for this branch but for every branch, we would have mandatory courses that improves our coding skills in any language and presentation skills. There are subjects like codeX and Competitive Coding for every semester that helps to improve practically. They are laboratory subjects only for coding languages. This helps to prepare for real world applications. The choose of your own subjects, faculty and timings happens only for core departments. AI-ML,AI-DS and other come under specialization departments. So our timetable will be decided by HOD. The exams will be conducted every week like few subjects will be for unit tests (3 unit tests), few subjects for mid tests (2 mid tests), and model labs. Exam level will be medium to hard, can score easily.
Placement Experience
Student get eligible for campus placements from 6th semester but students are eligible for internships from 4th semester. So from our 2nd year of under graduation, we get plenty of opportunities. There are a total of 300 recruiters with 2000+ placements in one year with over 1800 placements for 2023 batch. Some of the top recruiters are Accenture, Infosys, Amazon, Adani, HCL, Delloite, Cisco, Jio, Acies, Amadeus, Hyundai, HCL, Informatica, Tata, Salesforce, Walmart, Virtusa, TCS, Capgemini and many more. Our international office also provides abroad internship opportunities and study opportunities for students who don't opt for placements. I plan to opt for placements even before getting the degree. But many students go abroad for internships in some of the most significant organizations like CERN, OIST, ETH and many more. The highest CTC is 44 LPA
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees that we joined for will be the same for the course of our study. There wouldn't be any extra fees for anything. But the fee increases for new joining student (freshman) every year. The cost of my education is: 1,15,000 academic fees + 20,000 exam fees 1,35,000 college fees Hostel starts from 97,000 per year and it is according to the room type and sharing. I have taken AC Single Room = 1,57,000 per year. But for our juniors hostel fees started from 1,10,000 per year for standard room. The scholarship will be from 25%-75% of total amount (only for academic fees). It is Mahatma Gandhi National Merit Scholarship. It will be decided based on MPC marks obtained and rank in exam. No scholarship for hostel or no extra fees. There is no campus employment offered but we have many volunteering jobs and various positions. We have competitions where they give prize money for winners from 5,000 to 500 per person.
Campus Life
We have annual fest called Lavaza which is a technical and cultural fest. It is for 3 days (3 mornings and 3 nights) and is organized typically in February or March every year. We also have flashmobs and fests for every festival throughout the year. The library has plenty of books and we can borrow them anytime. We have computers available and books that range from our syllabus to published journals. Every classroom have a projector and a board. The only negative is that AC facility is not available as the climate will be so hot in summers. Every sport like football, basketball, track and field and many more are available. Extracurriculars like dance, singing, NCC and many more are available. We also have academic clubs like IEEE, Google DevOps and others. Every sports activity and extracurricular activity have a club that is run by students and we call them as student coordinators. It is mandatory for every student to participate in any of the activity to get a degree.
Hostel Facilities
Some rooms are small and some rooms are large. The double sharing room and single room are of same size. Girls have 4 block of hostels and boys have 8-9 blocks of hostels. We can opt for AC or non AC and the price will be according to the room type. We have non-veg at night for six days a week except Saturday. Each day will be one variety of chicken. We also have veg side by side and north food for students from northern states. In the afternoon, we have sambar, dal, chips and some curry with rice and chapathi every day. We get fruits some days and we get snacks every evening with milk in morning, evening and at night. First year registration can be done in the university's admission block and from second year we will get a link to register and pay online. Now, the hostel fees starts from 1,10,000 per year for a standard room(4 in 1 / 5 in 1 / 6 in 1 Non AC). It is a lot affordable than other colleges. Avadi will be the locality if you want to rent a room.
Admission
The eligibility of the course will be 65% MPC aggregate and VTUEEE entrance exam. The details of application, fee structure and courses will be found on the website: www.veltech.edu.in/ btech-admissions There are no reservation benefits. Everyone will have the same process. The VTUEEE (entrance) exam is conducted in two phases: Phase 1: Slot 1 in Jan and slot 2 in Feb Phase 2: Slot 1 in Apr first week and slot 2 in April 3rd week The syllabus is Math's, Physics and Chemistry from 10+1 and 10+2 classes. The difficulty level is also moderate so one can score easily. It is an MCQ based examination. The scholarship percentage will be based on MPC aggregate and VTUEEE exam. I hope the number of admission centers will be improved as there are very few in each state and it is difficult to travel and take admission in-person. Fee payments and other things should be done in-person.
Faculty
In a class of 75 students, half of the students will be under one mentor and another half of the students will be under a different mentor. So each mentor takes care after their marks, attendance, grades, and achievements including extracurricular. I would say, every student will be given plenty of opportunities by the faculty itself. It is completely based on the student whether they will use it or not. Even our HOD will often contact directly regarding opportunities. The faculty is not strict and we can reach them any time and they even respond effectively in the weekends. The faculty to student ratio is acceptable because every student will be able to approach the faculty. The number of faculty are enough for the students. Each faculty has their own way of teaching and few faculty provides materials, few will give activities and few will teach practically.
