Course Curriculum Overview
The ECE curriculum of the university is good on paper but lags behind evn compared to similar universities. The questions asked from the syllabus in tests and exams are mostly extremely predictable, with little room for applying oneself to solve a problem. This is probably done to ensure that the overall average remains up, but it hampers learning in my opinion
Internships Opportunities
Turing, PayU, Embedded4u, Microchip, Micromax were some of the companies that offered internships with stipends this semester. Internships from companies are relatively low in the university, with far more opportunities for research internships abroad through tie ups with universities in Taiwan, Singapore and Europe. I'd suggest focusing on them more.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements on the 7th semester, but can start applying and going for internships from 6th semester. WITCH companies are the main software companies that come to the university for placement. Core electronics companies like Microchip, Embedded4u, etc also invite students for internships and placement
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fee increase is relatively predictable and normal and is notified. The complete cost of my education for 4 years, which only really involves tuition as I am a day scholar goes upto 6.5-7 Nearly all government scholarships are applicable, and the fee does change according to the scores gotten by attending VTUEEE entrance exam
Campus Life
Campus life is highly undesirable Books and Journals are mostly accessible from the library Classrooms are not well maintained and many a times, do not have basic facilities like working projectors Sports and extracurricular activities are held back by the lack of proper facilities offered Student run social groups and clubs do exist, though not many having a positive impact on a student's academics
Admission
Relatively simple. Application forms, fees and dates can easily be found on the website. The entrance exams are relatively simple, on par with most state engineering entrance examinations, somewhat easier than JEE Mains
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is relatively low in the university ranging from 1:50-60 for a particular class. This is on par with most other universities here, and abroad. Faculty's approach to teaching and mentorship may vary, but is largely a low bar. Only some faculties encourage their preferred students to do more than the stipulated minimum, even if they're mostly approachable
