Remarks

College management is strict about many things but only considering the welfare and well being of the students. They always give importance to the wish of the students and supports all endeavors. However, if the students misbehave or cause any trouble, strict actions will be taken against them.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum or syllabus is based on Bharathiar University. The university has included all possible subjects in English Literature fitted into this 3-year course. The syllabus makes sure the students are well versed in history and literature. It contains many books and works of prominent writers of all times which have to be read. This enables the student to develop a keen interest in the subject. The exam structure is such that, there are two internal exams and one final exam per semester. The tests make sure the student has covered the whole subject thoroughly.

Placement Experience

5

The placement of the college is well famous around South India. PSG has always been famous for hosting the best companies to interview students. There are placements happening throughout the year and unlike other colleges, they are available for the 1st year, 2nd year and final year students. One of the most exciting internships is from Goldman Sachs, who offer three months internship in Bangalore with a stipend of Rs.15000. There are almost no limitations, students of any course can participate in placements.

College Events

5

There are four major events in the college. Wizardz, Heart Beat, Cascall and Euphoria. These events are major happenings and students from whole Tamil Nadu look forward to these. These are Inter-department and Intercollege events for aided and unaided courses. Apart from these, each department conducts their own inter-college events, such as, Executrix by BBA department, Pheonix and Litzeal by English department (aided and unaided), Pathivugal by Viscom department which brings in celebrity guests etc. Celebrations by PSGCAS are very famous too, namely, PongalVizha for Pongal celebrations and Ponvasandham, the exclusive hostel day celebrations. Curry Masala is a food and culture event which brings people from all around the city.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure changes every year. I studied in the unaided English department and joined in 2015. The donation was Rs.70,000. The annual fees were Rs.40,000 per year. It would have definitely increased now. Every semester we paid around Rs.700 plus for Manvar Manram registration and examination fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not opt for any. If the student has good scores he/she can get into the aided department where the fees are as low as Rs.3000 per year. There are no much differences in aided and unaided sections through the faculty, HOD, events etc. change. The course, syllabus and semester exams are the same.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is awesome. Life in PSGCAS is always referred to as heaven. There is no better institution anywhere else that provides quality education and great campus life. The gender ratio differs from department to department. Different departments different activities. Also, there are very active clubs on the campus, such as, Book Review club, quiz club, music club, thinker's club etc. Every clubs conduct activities on a daily basis. There are various state level and national level sports events that happen such as basketball championship, badminton championship etc. All these are very much perfect.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel of PSGCAS provides different options to choose from, depending upon the personal interest of students, their preferences and choice of expenses. There were many hostels within the campus such as Marutham, Ganga, Kurinji, Swati etc. Each hostel had different facilities available such as the number of roommates, quality etc.

Alumni/Alumna

PSGCAS has a very vast alumni network that includes various celebrities and prominent personalities. The alumni contribute majorly for the welfare of the institution. Unlike olden days, the seniors are very friendly and loving. The campus is ragging free and takes strict actions against it.

Admission

I had 95 out of 100 in English for 12th standard (CBSE). That was very good scores, way above the cutoff my admission year. I was late for admissions because CBSE results were late. I had the recommendation to the Principal and they asked me to pay the fees the right the next day.

Faculty

4.5

Most of the faculty who teach at PSG College of Arts and Science are alumni of the same college. They are very fluent in English and thorough with the subject. They inspire the students to study the subject outside the syllabus as well, so as to improve themselves in a better way. They support and guide students personally and professionally. The faculty is very supportive of the students to think outside the box and participate in extracurricular activities.

Placement Experience:

Our college provides placement. At first they will conduct some training programme for those students who are all interested and paid fee for placements after that based on the performance of the students in the interviews they got selected. Companies like Accenture and many others come forward. The percentage of the students getting placed is depends on good performance. I planned to look forward for some jobs by cracking some exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well the course provides almost everything which is needed and available. This is not a normal economics course as it involves statistics, python, core math and also dives into data science. This allows the students to explore various subjects and can choose which is their best fileld. The curriculum overall is very rigorous and intense but you can crack it if you study regularly. About the frequencies of the examinations, we have 2 internal examinations and 1 end semester examination. I can guarantee that this course is super rigorous but im not sure if i would necessarily say that the course is "practical" and it helps us in the real word. I cannot comment on the practicality of the courses. The exams are not super difficult and its moderate. Getting more than 90% can be challenging although clearing the paper won't be an impossible task.

Placement Experience:

College facilitates campus placements every year for students passing out from the institution. Students are eligible to attend placements from their 6th semester. College also extends students to passed out candidates, 2yrs from their passed out year. Huge giants from IT and Non-IT sector, such as Wipro, Cognizant, TCS, Infosys, and many more, would conducts placements in our college. Other sectors, like hospitality, schools, healthcare would also conduct interviews on campus. The highest average package offered varies from 3.5LPA for IT Profiles to 2.5LPA for Non-IT profiles, considering all are freshmen with no experience. Every year, on an average, 60% students get placed through campus interviews and placements. I am currently working as a HR in a Consultancy Company, a job that I acquired through campus placement drive.
