Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum is fairly relevant and they keep on updating it so that it remains in power with the latest trends in technology but some of the courses are still very old, they are still teaching about subjects which are no longer in use at the time of placements and even higher studies, these subjects should be removed from the curriclum

Fees and Financial Aid

The tution fees for cse was 2 lacs in 2021 but increased to almost 3 lacs in 2023, the cost of hostel is also around 2 lacs per year, so a student staying here without scholarship is spending roughly 5 lacs every year. Scholarhsips are provided who score well in SRMJEE, have scored more than 90% in 10th and 12th boards on more than 90 %tile in jee mains, this is for scholarhsip in 1st year. For maintaing scholarhsips in 2nd year onwards, one needs to score more than 9 cgpa and maintain 90% attendance

Campus Life

3

There are 2 major fests in SRMIST, in the ramapuram branch Texus and strings, and people form different colleges of tamil nadu attend these, Texus has both tech and non tech events while strings is a non tech festival, they are usually held in april and september respectively. The libraries in the campus have a wide variety of books and is a good place to study, almost all relevant books and journals are present, the facilites and technological provisions within the classrooms however are not up to date. There are currently zero to very few sports and extracurricular activities offered on the campus but they have built a new complex for students who will be in the college in 2025. There are a lot of student clubs, both tech and non tech which help a lot of students seek guidance from their seniors

Admission

one needs to give SRMJEE for the admission and based on the rank of srmjee, your course is provided to you. the application form can be found on the official website of srm. The exam is conducted in 2 phases every year and is easier than JEE mains. There are no direct reservation but there is a state quota where people of tamil nadu have a higher chance of getting in the college.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty to student ratio is 1 to 65-70, the learning experience in classes is not great as most of the professors do not guide or teach the students as well as they should, while some faculty members are great at teaching and help the students in their projects, most of them do not like to be disturbed but are approachable.

Placement Experience:

Students can join job drives from the 7th term. Many firms visit the campus for jobs and offer roles in tech and other fields. The pay varies by firm and role. EEC has a good job rate and gives help for job prep. After my degree, I plan to work in the tech field and grow my skills.

Placement Experience:

Students are open to campus placements from 2nd year onwards. There are many companies who visit such as Delloite, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS, Amazon, NatWest, Nokia, etc. Highest package offered is 42 lpa and lowest is maybe 2-4lpa. Around 90% of students get placed here. My plans is to get a job through campus recruitment. Currently I got an internship through campus recruitment in Cognizant so the recruitment is quite nice here.

Placement Experience:

One thing I really need to appreciate at CIT is its placement training program. The placement team conducts regular sessions on 1. aptitude 2. coding 3. communication skills 4. group discussions and 5. interview preparation which helped me feel more confident during placements. The trainers were friendly and always encouraged us to improve our skills step by step. They provide continuous guidance and feedback throughout the training process. Mock interviews and one to one assessments helped me to understand my strength and weak areas and I work on improvements . These sessions not only improved my technical and communication skills but also boosted my confidence . The placement training team played an important role in preparing me for career opportunities and industry expectation

Placement Experience:

Chennai Institute of Technology is an instituition that truly prioritizes student career growth . The placement cell is exceptionallu well-organized ,consistently connecting students with reputed companies across various industries. What makes CIT stood out is the quality of its training staff. They focus heavily on communication , technical knowledge and competitive preparation ,align students with what top companies expect ,and contiuosly push us to improve and meet industry standards. Their structured training helped me to clearly identify my strengths and work on my weak areas, which made a huge difference during interviews and boosted my overall confidence. The department faculty are equally commnedable ,knowledgable ,approachable and genuinely invested in student career. Overall CIT is an excellent choice for anyone focused on building a strong and sucessful career
