Course Curriculum Overview :

I was never interested in engineering. I passed KEAM entrance exam. So my parents forced me to become an engineer. Since I was interested, I thought food technology might be a good branch in engineering. So I got admission in KUFOS through allotment. The course is actually good . In the 1st year, you study basic engineering, 2nd year onwards food related courses are taught. If you are a student who only have the intention to study you will find this college easy to adjust. They provide all facilities to study. There is no particular frequency for a semester. Even though academic calender is there for each batch it is not followed properly. In this college the course may last upto 4.5 years. Due to this reason the students ask the management to cut shot semester breaks so that they won't loose 1 year.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

At 1st year the tuition fees per semester is 37200. Gradually it decreases and reaches upto 25k. If you have COF certificate you can study for free. For students having family income below rs120000 there is a scholarship called e grantz were they get their fees back including hostel fees. The good thing is there are no particular collections made for conduct of programs. Since I am not eligible for such scholarships it is a big loss for me to continue here. The affordability of the course depends upon your privileges.

Campus Life :

There are no technical festivals hosted by our college. Actually our college doesn't conduct any program. It's the students union who takes initiative for conducting programs. They try their best to make the program success. The college gives permission and provides fund for the same. The fund is collected along with our tution fees. We have a college library which offers books for reference. The library facilities are ok. Each classroom has a projector. Sports meet is conducted which lasts upto 4 days. Student interested in NSS can join in it in 2nd year and NCC in 1st year. Both have special camps during vacation.

Admission :

The eligibility of the course is to pass KEAM entrance exam with a rank . I manage to secure 28k rank and I got allotted here in the 3rd allotment. I got reservation benefits while getting allotted because I am Muslim. You can't get into this college without attending KEAM. In spot allotment students who have attended keam but didn't manage to pass was allotted here. The question papers are actually easy but most of the time teachers don't manage to cover the portions. So we find it very difficult to pass the exams especially subjects like maths and electrical engineering. The admission process is ok but the fact is most of the students drop out during 1st semester because you will feel like you are trapped. At 1st our class strength was 39 but now it is 33. Each and every student in our class were interested in changing college but due to family pressure they were not able to do so

Faculty :

In this college majority of the staffs are guest lecturers. In our department only 2 or 3 permanent faculties are available. Most of the time these permanent faculties may not be available to take classes because they have do all the works for the smooth conduct. Guest faculties are ok. They take classes very well. Here no teachers will ask you to study like the way it is done in schools. During 1st year most of the students are more likely to fail for semester exams. Teachers are quite supportive. If you have the will to study it will be easy.

Actually placement cell is a bit week the company's is not that reputed and they offer monthly salary of 12k to 15k. Probably some startup companies. And many students choose that and work for 1 or 2 years to gain experience and then they apply for better opportunities.

From the 3rd year onwards we could attend placement interviews and many companies used to approach our college but mostly IT companies as I was in civil dept the construction companies were very less or NIL. In our batch, most of the students got placed and many offer letters but the only disadvantage was the offers were not from the core companies.
