Course Curriculum Overview

4

As we all know, MBBS is a hard course and often is compared to chewing iron nails. The course is definitely a tough one but it worth it. I believe not everyone is fortunate enough to be studying medicine, so if you are giving your worthy 20s to this course , you will definitely be standing out from the crowd. The course and curriculum is set by National Medical Council(NMC) and is followed in every medical college. The teachers at our college definetly focus on the fact that we learn the curriculum along with extra curricular things which are needed in the profession like ethics, attitude and communication.

Internships Opportunities

4

After completion of 4.5 years of the course, a one year internship is necessary for every student. During internship we are posted across over 20 departments in the hospital. This gives us great experience and patient exposure. During internship we are paid with stipend every month.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement after MBBS is as a junior resident in various hospitals across Maharshtra. The approximate salary of a junior resident is about 30000 to 40000 per month. But again, most of the students don't take any placements as they prepare for postgraduation exam NEET-PG. In medical field, specialization matters a lot and hence the bulk leaves placements and goes for specialization in post graduation.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

The fee structure is subjected to change every year which is present on the college website. The tution fees and mess fees increases by 10% every year and the total fee rounds of to approximately 65 lakhs. The first 5 students who score highest marks in NEET-UG examination and take admission in the college recieve a full 100% scholarship on tution fees. At the end of 4.5 year, we have to do a 1 year internship during which stipend is provided.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life is surely a happening thing. We have our college set in Pune which gives us a great exposure. We have our own college fest - Avyanna. The college fest conducts more than 60 events every year. We also participate in fests of other colleges like Armed Force Medical College. Campus provides great sports infrastructure including a swimming pool, basket ball ground, football ground etc. For those who enjoy studying, we have our college library with more than 6000 books and 1000 research journals. We have a many committees like dance, music, drama, social media, magazine, literature, research, sports etc. which makes the college life a happening one.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel is good with triple sharing room along with a bathroom, washroom and a wash basin. Two adjacent rooms share the same balcony. Hostel rooms are spacious and comfortable with good ventilation. We are provided with tables, chairs, cupboards, beds and book shelves. The only con is that air conditioners are not allowed in hostel. Well, due to good weather of Pune and only two or three months of summer, it is mangable. Mess food is overall average. We have a separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian mess. The food quality is good. Ofcourse, no mess in the world can match the taste of your mother's hand. The taste of food is overall not that good but again the food is edible and digestible. Hygiene in the mess is maintained well.

Admission

Admission in all medical colleges in India takes place by NEET-UG exam which is conducted by NTA every year in the month of May. NEET-UG exam is a hard one to crack but definetly not that hard to take admission in any deemed medical college. Cut offs soleley depend on competition during counselling. Last year the cutoff was 541 and this year the cutoff is expected to jump to 560 due to increasing competition. If you clear the cutoff and get admission during counselling conducted by NTA, then admission is a very smooth process as college takes care of every nook and hook of swift admissions

Faculty

4

Faculty is really good. Most of them are doctors passed out from reputed institutes like Armed Force Medical College and have a great experience in medical field as well as in teaching. Faculty helps you at every step, be it professional or personal. I believe it's the faculty at SMCW which makes it stand out.

The course is under Competency Based Medical Education it is with competencies in each subject and it helps very well to conquer at each and every subject. The practicals are also very well taught so that you can get hands on in every type of equipment and knowledge about all the things. Medical field in itself is very hard to chase but the difficulty level is quite impresssive in our curriculum it maintains the academic level of the college and University. The timing is also well matched keeping in mind with all the holidays and preparatory time

Course Curriculum Overview:

I always was drifted towards medicine the thought of having a scalpel itself was so mesmerizing! There is one asst professor per 50 students And on the dissection table or in small groups, we have 1 teacher per 9-10 students The teachers are highly qualified some are from AFMC some from well-reputated colleges We have a lecture then practical followed by a small group discussion of that topic mostly in anatomy Exams are quite regularly held and are definitely not easy to pass! They follow the pattern of MUHS but as per info, it was more difficult than that.

The faculty is experienced and the majority of the professors are good at teaching. The course curriculum is as what is specified by MCI. Regular classes. Disciplined study environment. They teach you what would be required for you to crack the NEET PG exam. I wish they would take up more research projects.
