What Students Say
Likes
- Value for money. As the university is heavily subsidized you'll feel that facilities are substantially good as compared to fees especially when it comes to accomodation and fooding.
- Messes in hostels breaks the myth that mess provides typical bad quality food. Food in these hostels are very good with variety and more than sufficient enough, even for people with heavy diet.(Especially in Shivalik Bhawan hostel)
- There are Extra curricular activities organised frequently for students to have fun and relaxation from daily boring routines.
Dislikes
- Faculty is not very much concerned about students or their performance.
- Girls face problems in leaving University premises as they have to go through a series of steps and permissions to leave University gates.
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum for MCA was outdated when I joined. But soon after my joining, HoD for MCA got changed and a new HoD tool the initiative and within 2 months new syllabus was designed and implemented. So the batches from 2022 and later study that curriculum. The new curriculum is highly effective and is designed after going through the syllabi of lots and lots of premiere institutes such as IIT Delhi and NIT Vellore. Some subjects included in new curriculum are directly derived from these institutes while some are adapted versions of those. As for exams Every semester:- there are two aspects of a subject:- If it's a practical Then there will be two hourly (sessional exams) before final exams of 20 marks each, a practical of 20 marks and a final exam of 40 marks, constituting a total of 100 marks If it's a theoretical subject, Then there will again be two hours before final exams of 25 marks each( or 20 marks each if the course instructor gives an assignment of 10 marks) and a final of 50 marks.
Internships Opportunities
Currently, I am pursuing an internship at Global Infoventures Pvt Ltd Noida. There are not a lot of internship opportunities as such but if you make the right contacts during your stay in the hostel with seniors, faculty and advisors, you can have a great opportunity at a great organization. Like I got this opportunity due to contacts of my HoD.
Placement Experience
Placements for Agriculture, Veterinary, Fishery and Community Science world is phenomenal over here. But not so good for technology world. There is huge range of placements in tech ranging from 3 LPA to 30 LPA. Students here become scholars and generally prefer to continue studying after completion of course and generally get enrolled in higher studies even till PhD. From there it becomes easier to step out in world as now you're highly qualified. But even you're not and leave college MCA or BTech, there is high possibility of getting somewhere and substantial growth.
Fees and Financial Aid
First of all there no hike in tution fees. MCA here is second most costly course. As there is still no grant from UGC for MCA, so students need to submit extra fees for their programme. First semester my fees was: 112564/- Second Semester:- ?29060/- Third Semester:- ?94686/- Fourth Semester:- ?39060/- Fifth Semester:- ?97834/- Sixth Semester:- ?17885/- But trust me, you'll find each and every penny worth it after you join. There is no such employment opportunities on campus that pay. And as for scholarships, you can apply to the government portal for scholarships called nsp from where you can avail of a hefty scholarship if you're from reserved categories.
Campus Life
My life was phenomenal in GBPUAT. So much so, that feel proud that I am from GBPUAT when I go out and meet people. Even though I was in my master's, I learned the most in my life as compared to my other educational levels. I met a lot of people. There is always something to learn from everyone you meet. This place particularly improved my leadership skills and now I don't fear the stage and facing people. I became a class Representative of MCA-21 and was directly or indirectly involved in almost all the major steps that were taken during that time. Overall, it was a roller coaster ride with ups and downs especially emotionally but in the end, I have nothing but happiness and fond memories of the place.
Hostel Facilities
I stayed in Shivalik Bhawan. It is exclusive to Master's and PhD students of Tech College. It is the best hostel of GBPUAT. Always clean. Single accommodation (No room sharing). Common washrooms and Bathrooms. Three washrooms, Three Bathrooms and One geyser for 17 rooms. Foor here is phenomenal. A lot of variety, cleanliness is maintained. Non veg on Wednesday and Friday Egg available everyday in the breakfast. Registration is easy Just go to hostel, find the manager Fill the physical form Attach you id and Fee receipt. And you'll be given rooms instantly.
Admission
For admission you need to go through an entrance exam(except for btech which takes jee score). Which was tough at intermediate level. After you qualify you get call for counseling and you need to submit 500? with all your documents. If selected after scrutiny, you directly get link for fee submission. Then you get a link of auams portal where you need to create id and fill all your details and then you need to visit you hostel to get room allotted. Once done you can go to college and start studying.
Faculty
Faculty over here are highly qualified but since it is very big University, faculty over here are of all sorts. From best to worst. Every student here is assigned to a faculty member called advisors. These advisors are responsible for all aspects of students conduct in college as well as University. Even to take a leave and go out of University premises, you first need your advisor's permission and then warden's permission. As for me my advisor is very good and a listener, who listens everything and then makes decisions with his own ethics. But I've encountered advisors of my classmates who are least bothered about their advisees. Apart from that, the teaching staff here is highly qualified with no one less than a Mtech or PhD in cases when the degree is non-technical and non-professional. Mtech faculty is also rare. Only highly productive and scholars get a chance to teach here too after going through a lot of Govt. Scrutiny. Otherwise, all the faculty members are PhDs over here.
