Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I opted for this course primarily because it offered an honors degree with a specialization in AI and ML, which aligns with my interests and career goals. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed, incorporating practical labs for almost every theory course, enabling us to better grasp theoretical concepts by applying them in practical scenarios. However, I believe there's room for improvement by increasing the number of lab hours and reducing the focus on theory. Additionally, implementing regular class tests could enhance learning outcomes. In terms of assessment, the semester comprises two exams: a mid-term covering 60% of the syllabus and an end-term exam covering the entire syllabus. Both exams are manageable, and past year question papers serve as valuable resources for preparation, allowing students to achieve good marks with adequate practice.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college fees amount to approximately 3 lakhs, while hostel fees add up to around 1.5 lakhs, resulting in a total cost of approximately 4.5 lakhs. Fortunately, there hasn't been any tuition fee hike since I joined the university. While the college doesn't offer scholarships specifically for tuition fees, students achieving a perfect 10 CGPA receive a commendable sum of 80,000 rupees. Despite the absence of formal scholarships, numerous internship opportunities are available within the university. Many students have taken initiatives by forming groups and teams to work on projects such as social media management and video editing, earning a substantial monthly income ranging from 5000 to 10,000 rupees.

Campus Life

4.5

Manipal University Jaipur offers a vibrant campus life with diverse facilities and engaging social activities. The campus features extensive sports amenities like badminton, basketball, cricket, and football, alongside cultural spaces for dance, music, and chess. Annual events include Abhivarta for sports, Techideate in March for tech enthusiasts, and Oneiros in February for cultural pursuits, featuring guest appearances by notable figures. Student clubs like Cosmos, IEEE, ACM, Cinefilia, and TMC organize multi-day events, enhancing campus culture. The library houses a vast collection of books and journals, supporting academic endeavors with comfortable study spaces. Overall, Manipal University Jaipur fosters a dynamic environment conducive to both academic excellence and holistic development.

Admission

I secured admission to Manipal University's Computer Science Engineering program, specializing in AI and ML, with a 73% score in my 12th-grade board exams, meeting the cut-off requirement. Finding the application form on the university's website was straightforward, and I didn't need to undergo any entrance exams, benefiting from direct admission based on my board exam performance. However, I learned about the Manipal Entrance Test (MET), held twice a year for other courses, which is reportedly less challenging compared to exams like the JEE. Reflecting on the admission process, I believe there's room for improvement, particularly in providing clearer information about admission criteria and cut-off percentages. Additionally, introducing more flexibility in the application process could enhance accessibility and accommodate a broader range of students' circumstances and backgrounds.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum includes lab works, workshops and seminars. Which influence the choice to choose the course. But they are lacking to get hands on experience. Though they are guest lectures and seminar which is highly beneficial. Need to provide report on summer internship, industrial training, which is mandatory according to curriculum. Which helps in gaining hands on real life skills. But students still pass this barrier using fake certification and copied reports. And faculty is not strict about this. I believe the latest technologies which is not integrated in curriculum like AI/ ML ,recent frameworks , even if integrated not taughtd in depth. Like we have subjects AI , ML but no practical learning. Assignment are huge burden with little learning we need assessment that tests understanding rather than memorization. More subjects needed on softs skills especially in last year during placement season. Live project with company as all student are not able to land good internships. Frequency of exams like midterm( 2 in 3-4 months) ,practical( at the end of semester just after 2 nd midterm exam). End semester exams - 10-20 days after practical exams.

The curriculum here is inspired from IIT Kanpur and IIIT Hyderabad but most of the courses aree not relevant today like in today's world C language is outdated but they always teach everything in C and in ECE branch the courses are considered to be the toughest and maximize of them are not relevant today.

Placements at MIT are excellent and begin in the seventh semester. Our college attracts top tier companies and for the 2024 graduating batch. Major recruiters included Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Adobe, and Samsung. The placement statistics are very strong with the highest package being 52.28 lakhs per annum, the average package Being 14.5 lakhs per annum with over 95 percentage of students participating in the placement process My personal plan after getting my degree to join a leading tech firm as a software development engineer, I want to gain a few years of industry experience to apply the practical skills. I've learnt that before deciding on further specialisation or higher studies.
