BIT MESRA RANCHI COLLEGE REVIEW

The btech AIML course here is a new one, starting in 2022.The course is well structured to include the major topics like machine learnig,neural networks,etc.BIT MESRA was one of the first colleges to start this course. According to my rank i was getting electrical electronics branches in mid level nits but I was fixated on taking some course in the cse domain. So BIT was the best college i could get inline with my future goals as i aspire to be a software developer. The curriculum is well planned according to the industry needs and preprares us well for jobs and internships. Improvements can be made so as to include some more computer science related topics like operating systems in the curriculum.There are 2 quizzes,1 mid semester exam and 1 end semester exam.Midsem is after 2 months from the beginning then there is a quiz and then the end semester after about 4 months.The difficulty of the subjects is not much but one needs to be regular and try to maintain a decent cgpa of 8.

There are many internship oppotunities available for students. Top MNCs visit our campus during intern season which begins at the beginning of 3rd year. Companies like amazon, oracle, fastenal, salesforce, texas instruments, microsoft,etc. visit our campus with stipends upto 200000 per month. There are various internships available for the core sector as well with companies like tata steel.

The placements at BIT MESRA are very promising. The average package stood at 11.57 lpa and highest ctc was 51lpa. Companies like microsoft, amazon, salesforce, arcesium, atlassian, wells fargo and many others visited the campus in the 2022-23 session. There were a total of 982 offers from 192 recruiters.The highest packege was by microsoft at 51lpa. The percentage placement of the college was 76 with cse at 84%.The profiles of the high paying were sde roles.My plan is just to get job as of now.

Since BIT MESRA is a GFTI, its fees is not less. It is definitely more than the fees of nits,iits but less than the private institutes like manipal,srm. The fees of a 4 year btech program is 16-17lacs. The tuition fees increases every year at around 10% and similar hikes are there in hostel fees. There is scholarship available for meritorious students which is the gp birla scholarship. It is mainly for those who are financially weak(merit cum means).There is merit based scholarship as well but very few people are able to get it. The college provides ample opportunities for placements and internships for students with stipends ranging from 30k a montyh to 200000 a month. The students are eligible for internships in their 3rd year during the summer break. Companies like microsoft,salesforce,amazon,etc. come to our college for placements and internships.

FESTS: Our annual cultural fest is called BITOTSAV, held in the month of march.It is one of the largest fests in eastern india.Top celebrities and singers of the country like papon,monali thakur grace event. Our technical fest is PANTHEON,held in the month of october every year.It attracts students from all over the country.There are coding competitions,robot making events,seminars and also a cultural night. Our library has a wide range of books ranging from computer sciences to history.It also has a separate internet section on which anyone can check the availability of any particular book.There are over 150000 volumes and around 50000 titles. SPORTS are also given a lot of importance in our college.Our college provides a well maintained gym,cricket ground,a football ground and badminton and basketball courts and we represent our college in various events. There are clubs like rotaract,srijan,ieee,iet,gdsc,acm and many others to help students in exploring their hidden talents.

The hostels are given on a sharing basis.It is only by luck that one can get a bigger size room or a small room.There is a charging point in every room,a lan connection,a cupboard,and a table and chair.Most of the rooms are too small for 2 people.The quality of hostels improve as a student progresses from 1st year to final year. Mess food is okayish in our college.There are meals 4 times a day and non veg and veg are served separately.There is a mess secretary and menu is changed time to time depending upon the requirements of students. The hostels are not very costly and the charge per semester is around 20000.During the admission time you will be alloted a random hostel room after the completion of registration process.

The admission was based on the result obtained in jee mains examination similar to other nits. For the examination we need to obtain atleast 75% marks in the board examinations and then clear the cutoff of jee mains. Then after giving the exams,we get our percentile score of the exam. I got admitted in 2022, so there were 2 attempts of jee mains that year. I got 97.9 percentile in the jee mains examination in the 2nd attempt. I felt that there are less chances to improve in the 2nd attempt, as even if the paper came easy, the students are better prepared which drops the marks vs percentile scenario.My final rank was 19000. Then we need to apply for the josaa counselling through which the students are admitted to colleges.After that there is csab counselling for the vacant seats using which students can upgrade their branches or get admitted in some colleges.Improvement could have been made in the timeline and schedule so that the parents and students could arrange their tickets timely.
