Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is one of the most thorough in the country, well in with the standards of Western dental schools. One of the main aspects of this curriculum that influenced me to take this course would be the sheer practical opportunities availed. There is a vast and diverse pool of patients for us to practice on which provide a great help in the real-world. I would suggest that more training be given on how to converse with patients in their native tongue. The exams are well spaced put in between and the difficulty level is appropriate for a college of this repute.
Internships Opportunities
There were several opportunities to as interns of me to make use of such as the dental camps, and the rural clinics that everyone had to attend for at least a month. With a stipend of one thousand rupees, the NITTE Institute was a solid employer.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees remain stable for the time being at around 5 lakh rupees per year for the five-year course along with another ninety thousand per year for the hostel fees. In total coming to around twenty-eight lakhs and sixty thousand. As of late, there haven't been any fee hikes. There is a wide range of scholarships for those from the depressed classes as well as those from the management quota and the high bankers from NEET. There are many dental camps and treatment centers for Interns to partake in which provide valuable life experiences. All interns receive around a thousand rupees a month as a stipend while postgraduate students receive around six thousand rupees.
Campus Life
My campus life has been truly enriching and a learning experience that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world. We have the annual Cultural fest that lasts for a week in April along with sports events both indoor and outdoor that take place over the entire month of February. The library of the college is extremely well stocked with books on topics on every single range of topics that a dental student would ever need.
Hostel Facilities
Every room has two beds with a toilet and a bathroom for each room, the bathroom has solar-powered water heaters along with a well-functioning plumbing system and with the presence of free wifi. The electricity supply of the room is constant and consistent with no unnecessary power outages. The meals given in the hostel are nutritious and tasty, and there is no lack of anything, be it vegetarian or nonvegetarian meals.
Admission
The admission process was relatively smooth compared to that of my siblings in other colleges. The main entrance exam for all medical courses is the NEET exam, it is one of the most competitive exams ever held in India for seats in a medical college taken by around 8 lakh students every year. I earned a score of 266 out of 720 which was more than double the required score for admission into the college for a person without reservation. The application form and the application fees are to be submitted in the college office while application dates can be availed on the college website. The NEET exams are held every year on the first Sunday of May except for the year I took the exam due to fears of a possible COVID outbreak amongst the students. The exam center was extremely close to my neighborhood and as such I had no difficulty in taking the exam. In cases of improvement, I would suggest that the college enable online money transfers for admission and online applications.
