Course Curriculum Overview

4

Aspects of the curriculum which influenced me to opt for dentistry as my career choice is the less knowledge the public has about your oral cavity hygiene. I would like to spread awareness on the importance of oral hygiene and set up a clinic after i finish with my course to treat my patients. We have subjects like personality development in first year which helps us to understand the importance of good communication with patients and how it brings light to our career in the future. We also study about constitution in second year which helps in prioritizing ourselves as individuals of the country who needs justice in case of medico-legal cases. It tells us on how to work with your patient and connect to them in a better manner. In our college, internal assessments are conducted within every 3 months. We have 3 IAs. Minimum eligibility marks in the internal assessments and 75% attendance is required for appearing for the university examinations.

Internships Opportunities

4

Our college offers internship oppurtunities in which each student will likely work in a rural centre for 3 months during internship in order to interact with the locals and pursue experience for good development of your career. We have 21 rural centres within 150 km radius of our college. Our college also provides with ensured job oppurtunites for highly ranked students for about 2 years based on their scholarship.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total fees required for doing BDS course in my college is about 30 lakhs (including hostel fees) - 5 lakhs per annum + 90,000 rupees as hostel fees. Hostel fees depends on the type of room choosen by students. A no AC double room costs 90,000= 45,000 ( mess charge) + 45,000 (room charge). Various scholarships are offered by my college to encourage the meritorious young minds to pursue their dreams and to bring the best out in them. Our institue has 1 year of internship which involves a rural posting for each student for 3 months in any one of the 21 rural centres under NITTE university within 150 km radius from the college. Students interact with the local community here in rural centres. We also have placement cell which acts as bridge between education and employment. Stipends awarded can go upto 5k per month. Patient inflow is one of the highest you can ever see in any college taken into consideration at the national level.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is on par with other colleges n the college is constantly trying to improve it which is a gr8 thing!! But one thing which would do wonders is bringing latest dental tech into the curriculum which rarely 1-2 colleges do in India n I would love for our college to bring in this change!! Some dental materials r so old n not used anymore , but still they r in curriculum so...they can even change that!!
