What Students Say
Likes
- I liked my faculty and all the professors in my department. They are very friendly and approachable.
- The laboratories are always clean and they are quite spacious. There's enough room for a batch of students to sit comfortably
- The classrooms are big and each one of them is equipped with a projector for professors to use their presentations to teach
Dislikes
- The unavailability of chemicals in labs all the time. It's hard to perform experiments without chemicals
- The instruments are always not working or are out of order. They don't fix things on time
- The class timings are not good and it is hard for us to manage both laboratory work and classes in between
Course Curriculum Overview
The specific aspect of the curriculum that influenced me to choose this course was the Research aspect with my degree. In my particular course, we get our own mentors/supervisors from the first semester. They give us all the necessary training so that we are able to work in laboratories. The professors are very diligent and intelligent with their particular subjects. And they are friendly, so you can go and ask them for doubts anytime. The laboratories can be improved as there's always scarcity of chemicals, instruments, materials, etc. The exams are held after a month gap each semester. 3 exams are held, 2 midterms and 1 final exam each semester. The difficulty level is mediocre to hard. We get enough syllabus and time to learn and understand our subjects.
Internships Opportunities
Our mentors provide us with many workshops and Internships, both online and offline. It is upto us if we want to do it or not. Workshops like CRISPR technology, Next Generation Sequencing, Molecular Docking, etc are provided to us by our mentors. Internships in the university are also provided with a regular stipend. Project based internships are provided in the Cancer Research Centre which is in the university itself.
Placement Experience
In the last year of the course, students are available for placements. Companies like Nestle, Hindustan Unilever, Fitelo, HDFC bank, etc have visited for recruitments. The highest package have been upto 16-18 LPA for freshers. Average package available here is 6LPA. Almost all students get placements here. But, most of the time, sales job are provided for even BSc students which is not they require. My plan is to pursue for higher studies after getting.y degree
Fees and Financial Aid
Tution fees is increased every year due to inflation. It is regular and the rate of the such hike is medium. The complete cost of my education is around 8-9 Lakhs, including hostel fees and everyday necessities. Their are many different types of scholarships available for students. Students from the lower caste get adequate amount of financial aid. I haven't taken any campus employment because my course demands me to be in the laboratory from morning to evening.
Campus Life
Every semester, there are a lot of functions and activities being held all over the campus. Fests like Moksh, Spring Fest, Manchatantra are held once every year. The library is well equipped with all the books required for your course. Professors suggest you books from the library. The facilities are more than efficient and the technology is also good. We have apps on our phones where we can find our attendance, presentations, clubs etc. A lot of sports events are held in the campus. Sports like badminton, cricket, volleyball, basketball, etc are encouraged in the university. There are a lot of different clubs in the university like Prism for the LGBTQ community, Satrangi strokes for arts and crafts, vision threads for handicrafts, etc.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms are big and spacious, the girls hostel is quite far from the boys hostel for safety. Their are guards 24/7 guarding the hotel. The rooms have balconies. The food is a average, sometimes good but sometimes very bland. Non vegetarian food is also provided if you want but you have to buy it separately. Registration process is pretty easy. You will be asked in the beginning of admission if you want to opt for hostels and they will contact you accordingly.
Admission
The applications process was pretty easy. I directly went to their official website on Google where I found their number and contacted it directly. You can find all the important details from their official website.I told them about my interest in their University. They said they will call back, which they did after a few hours and made me understand the benefits of joining their course and why should I consider it. I didn't get reservation benefits because I was already quite late for admission. Then I was told that I need to give a small aptitude test for admission which is easy. And then I was approved for admission. The exams are held after every 1 month and the difficulty level is mediocre to hard. Their are 3 exams every semester, 2 midterms and 1 final exam. I don't think there's any improvement needed in their admission process as the process is already quite easy.
Interview Experience
I didn't face any group discussion or interview for the admission, but I did gave an online aptitude test before admission. It was an easy test. The questions were from basic English, Science and Maths. I was told that I would have 30 minutes for 30 questions and if I pass this test, my admission will be approved.
