Review of IIT Roorkee

Basically, my branch is Metallurgical and materials engineering which deals with the extraction of minerals from the earth's crust. Till now the circullum has not prepared me well for facing/solving the real world problems; till now it is very much kind of theoritical and very less practical.

As you know IIT's are know for their internships and placements only. So no doubt they offer a very good package t the students but the thing is that you have to work hard to grab those packages. It is also said that once you get into any IIT then sky is the limit. So, yah the placements of our college is very good ignoring the recent recession period...

Basically, as far as i know for availing the scholarships or financial assistance the students of the college are divided into three sub groups: 1.Students whose parental income is less than 1lakh:They can have 100% fee wavier. 2.Students whose parental income is between 1lakh and 6lakh:They can have 66% fee wavier. 3.Students whose parental income is above 6lakh:No scholarship is awarded to them. But for availing the above scholarships proper documents should be submitted to the office and after cross-verification only they grant you the scholarships.

If you will ask me to describe my experience in just one word i will say it's superb. Like the campus is very very beautiful, there is a lot of greenery in the campus. The night life of the campus is also very good. Talking about clubs involvement so therer are various types of clubs ranging from tecnical to non-technical also there is very good bonding between the people in the clubs , partys are organised time to time in the clubs. Talking about the infrastrucutre of our college so the thomson building which is the charm of IIT Roorkee has a very good infrastructure.

Since IIT Roorkee is very old so some of the hostels which is there from very long time they look a little bit kind of old but the administration is putting full efforts to renovate those old buildings. Recently almost all the washrooms of the old bhawans have been renovated. But the hostels which are new they have world class rooms and very good washrooms.

The course which i am doing is basically B.tech from Indian Institue of technology, Roorkee. You can find the application form online on the NTA's (National Testing Agency) official website. Ya, basiclly i belong to OBC category and i have availed the benifits of being a OBC category person.
