Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum aligns with real-world needs, current market trends, and the final goal. It has been seen in the past few years that the placements under the IT Department here in KIET are very appreciable, not only this I was fascinated by this course because of the variety of fields it covers under curriculum like computer science, software development, and information systems. The course is well-structured as in my opinion, the whole 1st-year syllabus is divided into 2 cycles - Physics Cycle which includes Basic Electrical Engineering, Mathematics-1, Physics, PPS, and Additional Subjects and Chemistry Cycle which includes Chemistry , Electronics , Mechanical , Mathematics-1, and Soft Skills. So the whole crowd is divided into these 2 halves. We are taught according to this with internal exams nearly every 1-1.5 months known as CT-Examinations. The faculty members here are very well experienced and they teach us very well with practicality.
Internships Opportunities
The internships here in KIET are pretty much decent. There is an Internship and Industry Partnership Cell (IIPC) which usually manages the internship process. They offer students access to the industrial environment and opportunities for self directed learnings.
Placement Experience
Placements are accurate to what is on the college's brochure on the college's official site. But for your information, the average package is 7.5 lakhs to 8 lakhs whereas the median package stands between 4 lakhs - 4.5 lakhs. The placements are pretty much good here in KIET.
Fees and Financial Aid
This year the academic fee for the newly admitted students was Rs 1,39,000/- per year, and for the hostels, the fee was Rs 1,03,000/- per year and Rs 26000/- in the case of Air Conditioned Rooms and there is an examination fee also being charged by AKTU of Rs- 7865/-. There are many internal scholarships in the college based on marks and GPA secured. There is a scholarship for Students of U.P Domicile, which comes yearly based on the category that the student belongs to. If we talk about the campus placements the average package is about Rs 7.5 lakhs to Rs 8 lakhs (approx), with a median ranging around Rs 4 lakhs to 5 lakhs. The placement is pretty good and the graph is growing not only for the core branches but also for the non-core branches.
Campus Life
The campus, which is spread across 18 acres, is a pretty good infrastructure that includes the buildings allotted to the respective work domain or branches for B.Tech, MBA, and Pharmacy. There are 2 grounds, 4 food outlets+, 8-9 hostels, and 4 canteens on the campus. There are freshers and farewells held for every upcoming batch and felicitations ceremony for the graduating batches. There are many other fests and events held at the campus including tech-related events, sports-related events, and fun events too. There is a library on the campus which is on 2 floors, there are tons of books there for all sorts of purposes. There are various labs for respectable subjects where experiments and demonstrations are held. Various clubs on the campus are related to different domains like tech, coding, singing, music, and other extracurricular too. Like this, there are various other things on the campuses which attract various students from across the country.
Hostel Facilities
For the 1st year students, there are 2 Boys' hostels for boys named - Chandragupta Hostel and CV Raman Hostel, and 2 girls' hostels. The fee per year is Rs-1,03,000/- and an extra 26,000/- for Air Conditioners. In a single triple sharing room, there are 3 beds, 3 wardrobes, and 1 table chair each with lights and fans. There are 2 types of rooms one with an attached washroom and the other with a shared washroom with warm water and cold water facility. There is a mess for the respective hostels, the mess provides 4 time meals in a day, breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, and dinner. The food provided is good for tastebuds and stomach with different dishes every day and 1 sweet. There are many PGs and rooms near the colleges which can also be a choice for the students.
Admission
The admission process was pretty simple, but every small step was crucial and worth attention to. Firstly we have to take a JEE-Mains* (Joint Entrance Examination), a national-level examination conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency), twice yearly. So, I cleared JEE Mains in the year 2023 and was eligible for various counselling across the nation. But to get admission to KIET, you all have to apply for UPTAC (Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling). I applied for the same during my time and the basics of the counselling process are that you have to pay a certain amount of 1100 INR* to get registered on the web portal and from there you can become an active part of the counselling. In my case, there were a total of 4 normal rounds and 2 special rounds. When I sat in the counselling process, I had to first fill in the choices according to my JEE Rank. After entering all this a result is published. In my case, I got Information and Technology in KIET in all 4 rounds.
