Remarks
Teachers were good and the subject curriculum made it best. The exams were not a big tension and life was cool within myself. Just one thing, it was quite far from the city, so I wouldn't recommend staying close to it and I wish the crowd was better because people here was the only issue with me during the whole college life.
Entrance Preview
There was no as such entrance examination for getting in here, rather, I gave a phone interview to get selected. Minimum criteria were 60% in 10+2 which I had so it was smooth for me. I chose BA in English because I was never interested in other subjects, even in my school time. Choosing English gave me the power to love the studies which most students can't because they're forced into their course.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course was tougher than I had anticipated, but exciting, nonetheless. I had subjects of English Literature as well as Psychology and Sociology. Choosing the latter subjects provided a connection of human psyche, emotions, and behaviour which was the best combination for me. As far as practical learning is considered, there's no need for it because English itself is a practical language. The subject was all about the theoretical things because as such there is nothing practical in the course. But yes, some plays and dramas were organised that could be counted as our practicals.
Internships Opportunities
There are no such internships for the Literature students and neither we need it but yes my technical and commerce friends did get internships. Some get internships that are offered by the university and rest find it from outside. Their experiences varied depending upon the company they got internship in and the stipend too varied.
Placement Experience
Being an English Literature student I never cared about placement, nor I have any knowledge of it. Most of us either become writers or lecturers in universities but for that more higher education is required. I cannot comment on companies visiting the campus, because I don't know. My course definitely needs higher studies so I focussed myself there.
College Events
Festivals or events, to be exact, happened almost all the time whether it was sports or art. Usually, they comprised of the department that held the event or the whole university. Sometimes they included other colleges and universities too. I can say that the college authorities did contribute and encouraged students to participate in the events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee was Rs. 30,000 per annum and it was quite affordable. Although it was more as compared to Delhi University for the same course but the quality of teaching here was much better. There was an additional fee of Rs. 1000 that has to be paid per semester as per Activity Fee, that made my total expenses as Rs. 32,000/year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The meritorious students getting more than 80% were rewarded in the form of scholarships. The college also launched a special scholarship scheme for women (I am not sure of the details). I didn't avail for any loans but as far I know, the college did not provide help in getting loans .
Campus Life
I was the president of the Literary club, the vice president of Dance club, and the member of Photography club and Music club. I have always done things my way so it was hard for me to coordinate, but I enjoyed my time in the clubs very much. The college was very supportive and helped us in everything that was needed for the clubs to function well.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, I stayed in the hostel in my second and third year. It was the best hostel in every possible way. The fully furnished rooms, the food, the services, the facilities everything was perfect. There were double bed AC and Non AC sharing rooms and fee differed for both of them. The fees was 1.25 lacs for the rooms.
Alumni/Alumna
There was no Alumni interaction. Alumni Meets were held but very few seniors attended. No such body was there to regularly connect with the pass outs and give an update to the current students about the various achievements that were being made by our seniors. Though, students were personally connected with the seniors.
Exam Structure
We had one mid-semester exam of 20 marks and one end semester exam of 60. Rest marks were counted in the internals. I never felt burdened due to the exams. Even if I did, it was because I always try to 'over prepare' for the exams.
Faculty
The teachers were either MA or PhD in English Literature. They were very friendly and the teaching method was far better than I had hoped. They provided us with their emails and phone numbers as well so we could make our queries whenever we wanted without hesitation. They were always considerate of us and our future. They always boosted my confidence whenever I was going through bad times.
