SSN: A journey filled with life lessons, good people and fun studies!

The advantages of studying in this college would certainly be the atmosphere, the various opportunities, the personal development and the scholarships offered. It's a holistic experience and I would surely recommend studying there!

I wrote a kind of screening test for my admission into the college, which is referred to as Management, but only meritorious students are allowed to apply for this. The test was followed by an Interview process where I was interviewed about my interests, reasons why I chose the college and so on. A week later or so, I received a call from the college saying that I have an admission for B.Tech Information Technology. I accepted the same. I was interested in computers and hence felt this course was best suited for me.

I am into my third year and I find the course very interesting. Practical learning is kind of in our own hands and depends on our approach to the lab sessions. If the approach is right, then they are surely beneficial. We have opportunities to work on projects funded by the college management referred to as "Internally funded projects". This is a great initiative by the college and gives students the freedom to learn and explore. There is also a Research department in our college dedicated specifically to research. As far as Elective options are concerned, as our college is under Anna University, we have a choice of 3 or 4 electives out of the electives available in Anna University.

The entrepreneurship Development Cell conducts Internship drives every year which third years and fourth years can attend. The average stipend amount is around 10,000. Apart from this, various companies like Goldman Sachs,Microsoft,etc. take in students based on intern-ship tests and interviews.

The placement scenario is quite good. Almost 98% of the students get placed every year. Companies like L&T, HP,Amazon,Fresh works,Sirius,Mu Sigma,Goldman Sachs,Infosys,TCS and lots more visit the campus for recruitment every year! The average package is around 4 lakhs per annum

The approximate fee per year comes to around 1,50,000 for the management quota and 1,29,000 or so for the students who joined through the counselling.

The college provides many scholarships under various categories, ranging from carnatic music scholarships to sports, academics, rural, and what-not! Ample scope to avail scholarships. We can pay our fee through educational loans.

There are a variety of clubs like music,dance,quiz,Tamil,English and lots more to explore and be a part of! Apart from this, the college cultural Instincts is a great thing by itself! An opportunity to explore our talents truly! Ample scope for exhibition and exploration of our talents.

I am a day scholar. But the hostel rooms are very comfortable. There are single rooms and shared rooms too. We have the freedom to opt for either. Shared rooms consist of 3 people in a room. PGs can be accommodated, in the sense the day scholars can opt to stay in the hostel for a short while, paying Rs.100 per day(food not included). The food available in the mess ranges from rasam,sambhar, to chappathis,dosas,etc. The food is good. But could be better.

There is an Alumni Association in the college of which I am a student representative of. There is a lot of scope for student-alumni interaction which can be utilized effectively. There are various schemes involving the alumni in order to provide guidance to the students in various areas. There is an alumni scholarship scheme too. The alumni play a major role in the development of the college and are always ready to provide support to the students.

The exams are held in the following manner. We have 3 unit tests, on the Monday and Friday of every week. These are for the sake of internals. Apart from these, the only other test we have is the model practical labs before the actual semester exams. So, I guess, it was a chill culture!

The staff are well qualified and experienced. They are very interactive and are always ready to help students whenever required. They are extremely approachable and also guide us on any projects we undertake. All of them are extremely knowledgeable.
