Remarks
The college management is fine and it just requires random management checks but they are working hard for living up to the expectations.
Entrance Preview
I gave JEEmain BITSAT VITEEE SRMJEE Galgotia EEE and also BVU-CET. I chose this college because of it's varied option of courses, faculties and academic ambience from my friends and people who were studying and some of the aluminies and also it had a national ranking of 61(then) in NIRF. Its affliated to a deemed University which is always an advantage over other private institutions.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure is fine. They have latest equipments for research and the state of the art labs are always an ideal place to perform research work and lab experiments. In the undergraduate course they help to understand concepts using certain equipments and motivate to take up projects for further hold on the subject. Unless the subject is too theoretical, faculty members try to explain everything using machinery flowcharts presentations etc.
Internships Opportunities
It does provide to various government PSU s. For eg. The chemical Dept. Provides internships in RFL in Alibaug to the third year students after their completion of exams. The stipend is about 8-10000. The general experience is good as it is a first hand experience of the industry for the future engineers. They have to maintain a record of their job during the internship and submit it when they are back.
Placement Experience
The job opportunities vary from departments to departments. We have mass recruiters like TCS and many reputed firms like Zensar, cognizance, Mercedes Benz, Wipro, Bridgestone, Accenture, Barclay's, Tata Elxsi etc. The highest package was of 5 lacs by Accenture. Average package offered was about 3-4 lacs p.a.
College Events
There are many events held but the biggest one being Bharatiyam which is a technical and cultural event held annually. Various technological events are held within the college and students from the other colleges are invited too. While the cultural event includes ghazal night, disco night, classical dance and singing and also a battle of bands. There are two clubs namely Leo club and Rotaract club which provide an exposure to social work and other causes. We also have NSS club and Entrepreneurship development cell which holds E-summit. The Rotaract club organizes a football event called futsal and the Leo club organizes Fireball event for basketball annually.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible as compared to other colleges where it is only 4 lacs p.a for the tuition fees and hostel charges are separate. Here in BVUCoE the college fee is somewhat 1.10 lacs and hostel fees is 90000 for boys where the boys are allowed to live for 1st year only and the girls can live till final year and they have choices to live as there are 4-5 girls hostels and one off-campus girls hostel called Queens resedentia where they charge 1 lac p.a for accommodation.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is actually no scholarship or loan facility available/offered by college but the meritorious students are awarded prizes and cash money for their overall year performance. You can always opt for education loan from various banks at feasible interest rates.
Campus Life
The campus life is cool and calm. The gender ratio is normal where it's a known fact that mechanical has a lesser girl ratio than other departments. Still there are girls who have opted for mechanical and production branches. Other branches like CS,IT etc are really good in case of their placements and faculties. In BV, you can see students from all over India, from Kashmir to Pondicherry, they are from everywhere and truly depict our one nation.
Hostel Facilities
The boy's hostel rooms are shared by three boys with an attached bathroom. The mess food is alright. There are several off-campus hostels too like Ramakrishna boys hostel, Radheshyam boys hostel which is not too far from the campus and is cheaper than college accommodation.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is vast spread and is a registered group. You can always check it's site on internet has helped students .
Exam Structure
We have alternate days for lab periods. The exams are divided into sets. In the first year, there is no practical examination. It starts from the second year. There are two unit tests held of 20 marks each and an average of two is taken. The attendance holds 10 marks and also the assignment holds 10 marks. These total up to 40 marks. Rest 60 marks are kept for theory papers. In practical exams 25 marks are for the journal file, 25 marks is for practical performed which includes viva, practical paper.
Admission
I gave the BV-CET held in Lucknow center of Uttar Pradesh. The result came a month after the exam and counselling was 15 days later. I secured the rank of 3500 and came to Pune for a counselling session. I was provided with Production branch as seats in other courses had finished by that time. Later on I filled a JWS form after joining which can be applied for change of branch. The only condition being the attendance of first month must be above 90% and they also take your CET rank into consideration. Thankfully I changed to chemical branch.
Faculty
The faculty is from various reputed colleges of Maharashtra as well as India. They are from NITs IITs IISc and many have done their researchers in ICT Mumbai IIT Bombay IIT Kanpur NIT Rourkela and some of them are undergoing their Ph.D. programme in our college as well. Faculties are highly interested in explaining the course and being always available to help unless there is a faculty meeting or call from principal. Most of them have done an M.tech or M.sc or even both.
