The college is filled with activities and fashion enthusiastic students who make the college more colorful and more interesting. You enter as a normal student and come out as a fashion expert with a good knowledge of the various fashion related fields and a good hold of the industry.

NIFT common entrance exam, I scored a rank of 166 and I opted for NIFT for obvious reasons of getting into the field of Fashion

The course is totally similar to MBA the only difference being the focus on Fashion. A lot of research work, field work and industry visits are given. Also, guests lectures and co-curricular activities make the course more worth. The knowledge given is both practical based and theory based and include subjects like economics, finance, operations research, marketing research and even IPR.

No internship is not always provided but the college helps in finding or applying in the organisations that have NIFT Alumni or NIFT network.

Though there is centralized placements, still Placements are not good, The number of companies that come are less in number but depends on the capability of the student to find work otherwise (off-campus). Job prospects are open in fields open to MBA students as well as in Brands and retail segment.

There is college fest - spectrum Situated in Tamil Nadu all south Indian festivals like Onam, Pongal are celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm but even festivals like Diwali, Dussehera, Republic day, Independence Day, Teachers Day, Halloween, children's day are celebrated. And even days like Indigo Day, Handloom Day, Sustainable Fashion Day, Hindi Mahautsav, Acknowledge your garment creator day are celebrated. Then college inter department fests are also a ritual.

Feasible, being a government college. Unlike other fashion colleges or even professional colleges (MBA also) the fee for a two year master programme is just 3lakh. While the Hostel fee is 1 lakh for a year and its because the hostel is amazing and newly built with air conditioners.

Loans are available with the tie up of Union Bank of India and Scholarships are available for people with low income which is scrutinized through a proper procedure

Gender ratio is 9:4 that is girls to boys. With female gender being dominant in the college. Parties and DJ nights are frequent in colllege, while the societies like sports, fashion, literary club, cultural club provide a lot of activities from time to time. The diversity is vast since the population ranges from South as well as North and west and east. The interaction between student increases due to the newness of the culture. No Religion or race issues since all are accepted equally. The diversity is the best part of NIFT Chennai.

Hostels rooms are big with double sharing and AC in rooms, Cot and Tables are provided. Mess food serves both south indian and north indian with a lot of variety. The girls hostel is situated away from the college (walking distance) while the boys hostel is situated inside the campus. The washrooms are clean and the cleaning staff even comes and cleans at night 12am.

The college seniors are helpful and the entire Alumni network of the 13 centers help each and every center and student for jobs and industry knowledge. The Alumni is also a part of guest lectures in college who come from different parts of India just to encourage the current batch of students.

The college, course and exams all are not hectic with easy schedule and manageable time-table and not many written exams its more of chilled out with focus on understanding of subjects through Jury (Presentations) more than written exams. Also daily presentation based assignments boost confidence.

Round 1: Written exam (GK, english, LR, Management aptitude, Math and Case studies) Round 2: GP/PI (To understand your knowledge in the field of Fashion) and after this is a counselling session for selecting the course and college (out of 13nift centers)

Majorly all faculties are qualified with a degree of Masters or Ph.D. and have an understanding as well a network among the fashion world professionals. The Faculty have been either been a part of the industry already or somehow linked to the big name in the industry
