C.E.T Soars- The Engineer Awakens

CET is the best state government run technical institute of Odisha. It provides the push to achieve your goals and soothes you when you are down.Its a family you wish you had, a dream you wish never ends.Every college has some shortcomings and so does ours. Although it shines bright in academics and talent a little better upkeep of the college infrastructure would definitely help it sparkle and reach greater heights.

I took Jee-mains as its the gate way to admission into many reputed engineering colleges across India.I scored 100. I chose this college or rather I'm glad that the college chose me as it is one of the most reputed government colleges of Odisha, which has produced brilliant engineers and entrepreneurs. Some amazing startups like Temple Thali, Now Floats, etc are brainchild of graduates from CET.

The curriculum and syllabus for B.Tech programs conform to outcome based teaching and learning process.First year students of all branches have the same course.Students can choose the electives they want to specialize in from the second year of study. The research work in our college is immense under the ample guidance of our deemed lecturers and periodic conferences by notable scientists and professors(including alumni) from around the world. Our college has various societies. 1.Zairza-the society for improving coding skills and imparting knowledge on robotics. 2.Cetadel- helps students showcase their prowess in literature.

Students undergo practical training in different organizations across the country during their summer break.The college also organizes in-house training on various advanced subjects like JAVA,.NET,SQL-2000,etc. Students go for training in different companies at the end of 2nd and 3rd year. Students have been placed in various different companies like WIPRO, TCS, INFOSYS, VEDANTA, TATA STEEL, PPL, ALOK IND, HINDALCO, OCL STEEL INDUS, ADANI POWER, JINDAL STEEL & Power and many others. The placement cell of CET has worked wonders over the past few years and success record of the students placed in some of the best companies stands as a testimony to the fact.

Life in CET is enjoyment to it fullest with the guidance of teachers,helping hand of seniors and friendly mindset of batchmates. The college is built over an area of 100 acres full of plush greenery everywhere.the college has almost equal number of boys and girls.Students of all castes,religions and races respect each other and mingle together.The college is their family after all. Every class has a class representative who is elected by voting within the class. The student activity centre is near the canteen where several art,literary,singing,dancing and coding competitions take place.

Enter college and freshers are scared of being bossed around by their seniors.But our college promises a fresh leaf with super supportive seniors and a no tolerance attitude towards ragging. After a month of joining college. Seniors host a freshers party where first year students get to interact with their seniors and showcase their talents. Seniors are extremely helpful(warn us against which classes to bunk and which ones not to,provide us tips for preparations in exams, help starters in coding etc. CET hosts alumni meets once every year where students get to interact with successful alumni of the college settled all across the world and take inspiration from them.

Examinations are conducted periodically under strict watch of invigilators.Surprise tests are conducted every month along with quiz.Internal Examinations of 15 marks are conducted once in two months with special focus on concept clarity of the student.Students are given ample time for preparation of assignments and written exams. Practical examination and oral evaluation of students is strictly conducted in order to boost their confidence and to prepare them for interviews. Semester examinations of 100 marks of each subject are conducted at the end of each semester i.e odd semesters in December and even semesters in May.

After the ranks of Jee-Mains were declared ,students from Odisha who couldn't get a seat of their choice through JOSAA(Joint Seat Allocation Authority) had to enroll their names in the OJEE website. The notifications were released in the ojee website within a month of declaration of jee-main ranks. On enrollment on the website, the students were given choice-filling options wherein they had to lock their choices of institute and branch in order of preference and submit the requisite fees. Within a week students were given temporary allotments, those wanting to withdraw could do so if they were unhappy with the allotment. Later final allotments were released and students were called for verification after deposition of university registration charges. The verification involved checking of various documents which were enlisted in the OJEE brochure. On successful verification students were called for orientation and were inducted into the branches of their choice.

The college has strict procedures for recruitment of teachers and staff. The professors are highly knowledgeable yet down to earth and guide students in the course they choose. Every department has counselors for students of every year to address the problems faced by them. All the teachers are highly skilled graduates of reputed institutes.
