Remarks

SIT is the place for those students who are not much interested in actually studying and who want to be a part of an event, coordination, extra curriculum activities or playing different sports. If your child doesn't understand how the world works, you can send him/her here and they would be as wise as a great politician. We have events almost every month and a lot of activities.

Entrance Preview

I did not get in this college through any entrance examination and anyone will get the admissions easily with at least more than 45% in their 10+2. I was looking for admissions in Bachelor's of technology in computer science or IT and this college was referred by one of my father's friend. We went to SIT's office in Sukhdev Vihar, Delhi and I got the admissions straight away. They might ask for donations if your marks are not good but if you insist and tackle the situation, you can get the admissions for free. However, few people get admissions through their rank in RTU entrance examination and this is not necessary.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

You can go to their Delhi office in Sukhdev Vihar and people over there will take care of providing you with the course curriculum. When I went there with my family, there was a lady who introduced herself as Director sir's secretary and she took us to the sir's chamber. He showed us all the positive aspects of his college and later when we asked for the curriculum he handed us with the college brochure.

Internships Opportunities

No, this college does not have any sort of internship. Sometimes vice principal Mr. Mishra do try to get few internships for students from electronics and communication for free. They are not paid even a single penny. This college has no placement cell. If you are a career oriented student, this is a pretty bad option for you. I was from computer science field and I did not get any sort of internship from this college's side. I did it myself in Delhi with my father's approach.

Placement Experience

0.5

Very poor. They have no placement cell and not a single student get placement from this college. Practically, the percentage is 0%. Students who are studious and want to make a career must not get admission here. Though at the time of admissions, they do promise placements in the last year company doesn't come for placement. The whole experience was pretty bad and we really had to struggle a lot to get a job.

College Events

5

List of events in college: 1. SIT fest-- This is the largest celebrated event in our college. The fest lasts for about 10 days wherein it is distributed as academic fest, sports fest, and cultural fest. In these days, we are allowed to roam in the college campus till late after notifying it to the warden. We have inter and intra college competition where students can participate after giving auditions. This time is great fun in the college campus. Students are allowed to put in their stalls and many of them get the opportunity to coordinate as well. 2. Independaceday/Republic day: These days are patriotic and all the girls need to get dressed up in suits excluding black color. This is also a grand celebration in the day time with flag hosting and later a speech sesison in the college and students are served with refreshments. 3. Functions related to collaboration with Indian government: Our college has collaborated with a lot of events. They entertain guest from outside country and as per the coordination with government, they celebrate their presence in the form of a cultural event which is organized in the college campus with the coordination of authorities and students. For example, SIT has collaborated with Lithuania, so a lot of dance groups in a year or so comes and there is a huge function for about 2-3 days. 4 Religious functions: We have various festivals in India and Shankara Institute of Technology celebrates almost all of them esecially for students in the hostel. They have organized small celebration on Janmashtami, Durga Pooja, Shiv Ratri, etc. 5. Surprise celebration: This point is of those kinds of celebrations which we do not know about. If any one comes and any good new is there, it tends to always celebrate and keep a function. 6 Teacher's day is also celebrated with great excitement.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is feasible and not as high as we expect in a B. Tech college. We may also make the payment installment wise and our director Mr. S, K Chaudhary also gives concession to those who can not afford it and problems are understood here. If someone is facing any sort of financial breakdown, they just need to write an application stating that they will make the payment until so and so date and it usually gets approved by the director sir. So there is no hard and fast rule for fee payment and per year including hostel, it would be around INR 90,000- 1,00,000.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, there is no scholarship and loan facility that is offered by the college. The degree is pretty much paid and there is no such though. Although, if requested by higher authorities, scholarship and loan might be considered and approved, once they figure out that the problem is genuine with the student.

Campus Life

2

Campus life was average. There was a lot of diversity but most of the students were from rural areas. As far as clothes are concerned, girls do not have the freedom to wear what they want. They have specified length of sleeves and jeans of a girl's cloth. So, if you are modest, this college is not recommended to you. Here, the gender ratio is quite unequal and boys are always given preference over girls, but as far as extra curricular activities are concerned, all are counted and girls are also appreciated with that. Everybody is quite enthusiastic about sports, especially in the fest which is held once in a year. There is a variety of sports that is played in the campus like basketball, cricket, tennis, badminton and they do have a very strict and nice sports teacher whose name in Miss Snehlata. She supports everybody who wants to get indulged in sports. There is a lot of cultural activities. All cultures in India, which is considered to be quite diverse, is respected here and if someone has special skills related to dancing and singing, he/she can get a very nice platform to perform and improve. The stage in every function is also good to gain confidence if a person is under-confident. The crowd and auditions panel is supportive for all the functions. Labs are well maintained by college authorities and practicals are well conducted by the faculties. Robotics could be seen only in the academic fest, where students make the robots and there is a robot fight. Debated, extempore, etc. are also carried on on the academic fest only. Everybody is free to participate there and it was carried out in an organized way and lastly, winners are announced.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

The hotel's name was Janaki girls' hostel which was quite spacious and rooms were big. There was a lawn too which was well maintained by the authorities. We were allowed to go to the front lawn till 10:00 p.m. in the night. Although, hostel gate gets closed after 6:00 p.m. only. Girls are not permitted to step out after 6:00 p.m. Attendance is taken every evening by the hostel warden to keep and track a record of all the girls. If any girl is not present, she might face punishment given by the warden. If any girl wishes to go out on weekends or weekdays, she needs to write down an application and leave it in the warden's cabin and if she validates and signs it, they would be able to go for an outing. They need to come back to the hostel till 5:30 p.m. On weekdays, they will be allowed to go after the college hours. The mess is also nice. They serve healthy food. The best food is served in the morning which is quite tasty. Sometimes, the food is repeated twice or thrice in a week which may seem boring to many people. But if the girls are quite modern and want to live in freedom, she should avoid this hostel as there are a lot of restrictions regarding clothes in this hostel.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, they are helpful but if you have maintained a personal relationship with them. You might come across your seniors while searching for jobs and if you have good terms, they might help you by giving their reference. I helped few of juniors in the same way. But these relations are maintained usually with your immediate seniors or seniors who are one or two years ahead of your batch.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is basically unit wise. We have 5 units in each subject and the total number of subjects usually are 5 or 6 depending on the semester to semester. Now, there are two types of students, one who wishes to study hard and score well and other is who just want to pass the semester. Those students who wish to study hard can issue the relevant books from the library and study from it and score high whereas students who just want to get pass can buy CBC book from any shop outside the college. There is a Gupta store nereby (the place is called aangan), where you can buy CBC book from. If students study all the question and topic in that book for all the subjects, they will get passed. The question paper will be of 80 marks and 20 marks shall be marked as internal practicals. Nobody from the university comes for checking so students can give their internal test quite smoothly. Teachers are also very co-operative. Results get delayed in RTU in comparison to other universities.

Admission

I was not a very bright science student. Although, I managed to score 58.7% marks in my 10+2 with science. I was not getting admissions in an engineering college in Delhi. So, there was one friend of my father who introduced us to the director Mr. S.K Chaudhary of SIT and then I got the admissions. My father paid the first installments by cheque and got all the papers of payment as proof and they told us the date of joining in Jaipur and I went there on the given date.

Faculty

2

Faculties of the college could be accessed easily if you once visit the college and take admissions. They would be able to know the faculty once they start attending classes but the environment is not very cooperative for girls as the crowd is mostly from rural areas and they react very weird to girls who are from an urban background. The campus is unsafe and they do not put any restriction on boys. If you try to complain to any of the faculty regarding any sort of misbehavior, they would just neglect and try to make the girl understand to wear more of Indian clothes. Only the dean of the college Mr. S.N. Kutti is a nice and genuine person who would actually help you. Rest the faculties are young and more like friends over there.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is vast and allows a student to explore all the possible options to take before deciding on one . The field of elctronics and communication engineering allows one to deal with electronics and learn all the possible tinkering with them which is a very fascinating part as all the gadgets possible today were made of them. The curriculum does satisfy this thirst by teaching about them in the class of electronics and electricals and then experimenting in the lab with them . The areas for improvement could be that if a student is interested in a specific field then should be allowed to venture that field throughly instead of sitting in every class , but that is an imrovement for the indian education system as as whole . The classes of every subject does occur frequently and and exams take place every month in a form of quiz or proper pen based exams.

I choose this course because I like computer science and I can see my future in this course. The current ratio in computer science courses is around 1:5. And we don't have technical communication teaching at present and the college is saying that they will recruit teachers as soon as possible. The student-teacher ratio in all the branches is around 1:3. All facilities are well qualified and teach well but they are not permanent and hence they may or may not be changed next year. There are two semesters in each year and an examination is conducted after each semester. The difficulty level of these exams ranges from moderate to difficult.
