Remarks
Admission at IIT BHU like all the other IITs in India can be availed only through the JOSAA allotment process based on JEE Advanced, which can be attempted only after qualifying mains with a 90 percentile rank. The allotment process is online after which Physical Registration at the hostel takes place a few days before college starts. There is a Hostel and College Registration on adjacent dates. The process is a bit long but fairly simple. The application form and details of admission are promptly mailed by the college to the registered email id as soon as admission is confirmed via JOSAA allotment. If a lot of the document submissions (photocopies) of the final physical registration are also moved to the online form, it would be immensely beneficial to the students taking admission here.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is common for first-year students with maybe one elective change for each branch which is again common to a number of branches. The faculty-to-student ratio is as expected the professors are well-qualified and many have a passion for teaching. Professors who have studied at Massachusetts etc take your course. The course is offline but all ppts of classes are promptly updated in official class groups. The midsems are around December and the End Sems are in February. They are fairly hard as students are introduced to a very vast syllabus, especially in Physics
Placement Experience
Placements at IIT BHU are stellar and beat almost every other IIT. From the 2.15 crore package for CSE last year and very high placements for every branch viz a viz 52 lakhs averaged out by branches. Almost all students who want to get placed barring the few students who continue with studies or prepare for Civil Service. IIT BHU is competent as all major companies that visit any IIT pan India will visit BHU due to the dynamic placement structure
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is typical, and common to almost all IITs. The hostel and mess fees are very nominal at 12000 per semester which averages to 2000 a month. Tuition costs about 89000 per year after the initial 35000 during JOSAA. These figures stated are for general male students and the fees varied greatly according to the category that a student has applied from and come down to virtually 10% of this in some categories. IIT BHU is famous for stellar placements and Internships though
Campus Life
Although the campus is older, most of the infrastructure is kept up to date and in very good condition, especially the air-conditioned reading rooms and library and the well-equipped gyms and Student activity centre. The grounds are in a league of their own and are extremely large and well-suited to the needs of the students. Clubs are aplenty ranging from Western Music all the way to Entrepreneurship and Business. Almost all niches have recognition here. Kashiyatra is the annual fest and is hosted around January and is one of the biggest IIT fests.
