Remarks
I joined the college by giving TNEA counseling where I have chosen Mechanical Engineering as my department with Government quota. There is no entrance exam for the course. But You should have specific cutoffs in the HSE State board exam like above 150 (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Computer Science, or Biology). We can join using Management Quota also.
Course Curriculum Overview
The Course Curriculum is good both in theoretical and practical aspects. But some Automation, Programming, Industry 4.0, IOT related subjects can be added to the curriculum for the improvement of students' careers. I chose this course because I loved doing Maths and physics in high school. The ratio of faculty and student is 4:5. The faculties are mostly Ph.D. Scholars from good universities but some of the staff are not up to the mark. Some of the faculties don't have the industry experience to carry out job-related skills to the students. The teaching method of faculties was also good enough to clear the semester papers. There will be 2 CA's and 1 model Exam before the final Semester Exams Conducted by Anna University COE, Guindy. It was moderate to clear the exam. Some questions are repetitive and some are tricky.
Internships Opportunities
Internships were provided by NLC (Neyveli Lignite Corp.), Brakes India Ltd, Timken Bearing, etc. for the role of Maintenance and Production Engineer. The projects given were moderate in the internships. The tasks were in the Production line and others in the design and simulation side which was pretty interesting.
Placement Experience
From the final semester, students are eligible for campus placements. Companies like JBM, TVS groups, Brakes India Ltd, and IT companies like TCS, Infosys, and Wipro came for the on-campus. And about 150 placements were offered by the companies. The highest package was CTC 3.6 lakhs provided by Infosys. The average package is CTC 2.4 lakhs. 30% of students were placed in Mechanical Engineering, and 40% of students were placed across all other branches. The overall percentage of students placed is 35%. My plans after Engineering is to join prestigious MNCs and develop my skills and improve my career.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee per year was 25000 for the government quota (GQ) students and it could be 50K to 100K for Management quota students. The library fee, Hostel fee should be paid separately. The safety deposit of Rs.5000 was collected during the admission. The TN Scholarship was provided by the college of Rs.4000/year and it was higher for girl students. The department provided us with an internship opportunity without a stipend. For our department, there were no big companies like L&T came to the on-campus. But companies like JBM and TVS Sundaram fasteners came and provided us with job opportunities.
Campus Life
Every two years Technical Symposium was conducted and many other college students participated in that event. Hackathon will be conducted by the Computer science department and other workshops will be conducted. All technical books and competitive exam preparation books were also provided by the library. Photocopy and separate halls and desks were also provided to prepare for exams and improve our knowledge in such a calm place. A maximum of 4 books can be borrowed for a month and late charges will be applicable if books were not returned by the due date. Many foreign author journals are also available. The classroom was provided with a projector and white screen and the room is quite wide and the ventilation was perfect. Every year, Cricket club selection and other selections were conducted to perform at the zonal level or district level. Annual Sports meet was also conducted by the college sports club and prizes were given to the runners and winners. We can also join NCC and other clubs.
