An insight on life at IMS

The minimum requirement for admission in the course is 50% throughout and have to appear in one of these entrance exams CAT/XAT/MAT/NMAT. Once the form is filled there will be a GD, PI and then screening takes place. The overall selection is based on the test scores, performance in GD+PI, work ex, academic score. Once this is done the student is informed about the selection and further process. Application forms can be filled out online through the college website and the admission process starts after the results for the entrance exams are announced.

The reason I choose this course is because of the curriculum and the faculties they have. The curriculum being followed does not only help in getting the academic part but also the practical knowledge of the things. The curriculum being followed makes us ready for the industry. Most of the faculties have completed their PhD and are up to date with the industry and the world and they make sure that the students are the same way, Talking the ratio it is 1:9 and the faculties focus on each and every student and try to take inputs from everyone. Cases are discussed, role plays are done and group discussions take place in class to make sure that the students pay complete attention and also get to see different perspectives of others present in class. The exams are conducted on time and generally are practical and application-based, mostly the whole batches clear all the subjects.

The whole batch did an internship and moreover, a live project was given as well. The live projects deal with market research and understanding consumer behaviour and projecting the expected growth results in coming years based on the interpretations through that data.

The students become eligible for Campus placement from the second year as the job opportunities start rolling in. As of now, 40+ companies have come for the placements. The highest package for the batch stands at 8.50 lakhs as of now and 400000 being average. Currently, 25% of students are placed and more are in process of the interviews. Talking about me I am planning to take a job after the degree is complete.

The fee has remained the same since we took admission and was the same for the batch that was before us. The overall cost of the course is 7,92,000 and it includes the dress, library exam fee and other fees as well. The college does provide scholarships based on the time of admission. However, there is no on-campus job provision.

Because COVID college has not organised an annual fest though it is called Grand Annual Fest. The library has up to date versions of books and one can get journals as well. Talking about classes there are projectors, PA systems so that everyone can see and hear clearly. There are sports and cultural clubs and the best part is that it is mandatory to be part of one sports and one cultural club. Even the PGDM department has different clubs and there are various activities done by the members of the club. College also has its own radio channel called Salaam Namaste.

I did appear for the interview and it did not only focus on why I want to pursue this course but also focused on my perception about things, how good I am updated with the current situations around the world and how much clear I am while putting up my thoughts. I would say one should always focus on current affairs as there's a lot going on around the world and they help in PI and GD.
