CEG: Learn the world, not just the book

The admission process usually starts a couple of weeks after we receive our board results. All the information regarding the university and the university departments is available on the official website. I didn't write any entrance exams. I got in with my 12th Tamil Nadu board marks. We have to pay Rs.5000 for the application process, which will be refunded if we haven't chosen a college in the counselling process. They'll release a link usually called tnea. Online in which you'll have to upload your details and documents including mark sheets, transfer certificate community certificate, etc. There will be a document verification process. And you have to choose the college and course preference. The allotment is released after a week or so. It is better to fill in the details as soon as the portal opens. I got a lot of server problems during the counselling process.

Industrial engineering covers management and mechanical engineering. We get glimpses of several other departments like manufacturing, data science, mechanical, etc. I wasn't sure of the career path at that time. So, I chose industrial engineering hoping I could decide later. We have around 15 faculties in the department. To be honest, we are lacking faculties in the count. The teaching method completely depends on the professor. Some faculties are extremely good and some not so much. The syllabus is well structured and it is comparatively easier than other departments. We have 2 internal assessment exams, each one month apart and the semester exam, 3 weeks later. The answer sheets are corrected by our department's faculty members.

The placement package and offers depends on the department. In total, CEG received around 1300 offers, more than 125 companies visited the college. The highest salary package was 33lpa. The median package is around 5lpa. Bulk companies like TCS recruit around 200 students each. On campus placement start during June or July in our 4th year.

They provide plenty of scholarship programs if the income is less than 3L or if you are a first graduate. There is not much scholarship options for income above 3L. The scholarship money, if you could get one, will pretty much cover your hostel and semester fees. The tuition fees per sem come around 15000, hostel and mess will be 25000 per sem.

CEG is known for its exposure. It comes from its various clubs and fest. We have clubs for everything. You name it, it will be there. All the clubs are active, conducting frequent competitions, meets and sessions. An intra-college cultural fest Agni is organised during the month of October. Intercollege technical fest Kurushetra and inter college cultural fest Techofes are conducted during the months of March and April respectively. They are huge. Kurushetra is UNESCO recognised. The college library provides for all the textbooks we'll need throughout college life. It has an air conditioned reading Hall, e-reading rooms and everyday newspaper, magazines. The sports ground accommodates all the games. We have a swimming pool too.

I stayed in the hostel. Girls stay 4 per room. We have bunk beds and common toilets and washrooms. Each room has 2 fans, 2 chairs and 2 desks. We have enough shelves but they don't have doors. The mess is awesome. We have a lot of options and they taste really good. The hostel and mess fees come to around 25k per sem. The admission and fees can be paid on the site ceghostels.in. The mess provides both veg and non veg options. We get a special menu on special occasions.
