Remarks

There is no entrance exam, you just have to get a decent percentage in your 12th for opt. BSc(IT). There are two branches of VIVA(Old and New), you can get your admission form from New VIVA. The application fee is somewhat around Rs. 100(During my admission year). You have to first fill up an online form on the VIVA College website(vivacollege.in) and then take a printout of it and submit it to New VIVA College with all the required documents regarding it. If you are from any category then give proof of it while submitting your application form. Your fees will drastically decrease if you are from any category. For example, one of my friend is from SC category and his fee was Rs. 500 while my fee as a general candidate was 25K. The process is smooth and there is no rush. You don't have to worry about getting admission because it's really easy to get into VIVA College. Although I still suggest you fill out your form carefully as the teachers there are quite irritating sometimes.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I did my 12th schooling for VIVA itself and I knew about the UG teachers so for that reason I went with BSc(IT) as my course. There are alot of new things you will study if you want to learn about computers and programming languages. Although the course is really interesting, teachers and faculty are kinda dull while teaching it. They just feed you in a bookish way without showing practical examples and applied information regarding it. Most of the faculty use projectors instead of directly interacting with students.(They don't even share their pdf notes). And many teachers just come to class and start doing storytelling on unnecessary stuff instead of teaching. Most of the senior faculty members did Masters in their respected fields and other junior faculty members were graduates(PG). There were 150 students in my batch. VIVA College is affiliated with Mumbai university so exams are the same all over Mumbai and it's easy if you have gone through your stuff.

Placement Experience

1.5

Placements are dull and not a lot of company visit here. There is no proper placement and recruiting officer present so don't expect a good placement from VIVA. Only 2 3 companies come here regarding placements and that too is invited by students and faculty members. One of the companies which visited VIVA was a Japan-based software firm. There is no Wipro no TCS. If you want to get into those then you have to go for off-campus hiring and placements. Most of my batchmates were placed in off-campus placements only (around 80%) and the rest are doing their masters. You have to have a decent percentage to sit for a placement aptitude exam. The percentage usually varies from 55% to 65% so it's better if you score high if you want a job in this field. I went for my master's instead of settling in a low-paying job.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees for BSc(IT) during my year(2017-2020) were around 25000 per year. So about 75k approx(for 3 years). There is no scholarship in particular but if you have any by the state/District/Centre govt then you can show it and get some concession regarding it. There is NO JOB on campus for students. But you can do jobs outside while studying and you will get a concession in your attendance percentage regarding appearing in exams.

Campus Life

3

There is an annual fest in which you will have a lot of events and games. For example, human chess, painting, dancing, singing, and so on. It is conducted in NEW VIVA Campus and organized by the VIVA Student council committee. They do a good job while organizing the event. It is usually for 7 days and on the 7th day, there is a Dj night party. The library is very good in NEW VIVA, with plenty of books to choose from your course and other fields that you are interested in. You also get free wifi in the library with computer facilities and a stationary shop. There is no special amenity in the classroom, it's just an old classroom with lights and fans and some crooked-up benches to sit on. There are a lot of sports facilities in New viva college gymkhana. There are a lot of extracurricular activities but sadly I was not a part of any of them. There is only one student body that handles everything regarding fest and events which is VIVA STUDENT COUNCIL. They have an Instagram page.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The first year curriculum connects SSC and HSC syllabus making easier to approach further. The course can be divided into two as aspects of application and academic first the general theory course of animals including phylum study and the another goes with lab work techniques making it suitable for higher studying in both lab and field work. The three year course must be provided with free subject choice as per the new education policy (no compulsion for physics and chemistry) Slight improvement in planning feel experience in field tours and outcomes. Do mostly well planned but sometime the exam schedule of different subject choices students in first and second year of course can make a difficult for on time study required before exam.

A few negative effects are debt, partying, sexual assault, missing family and friends, and stress. Positive effects are he/she gets a degree, makes new friends, becomes more diverse, most likely gets a good job after graduating, and helps he/she to become more independent and grow as an individual.
