Remarks
The college management as I said earlier is rigid. The overall reputation of this college is very high but same cannot be said for MBA department. Even students from this college are not aware of the existence of this department.
Entrance Preview
I got admission on the basis of my CAT score. I opted for this course as it was having the lowest fees among the alternatives. The admission process is quiet simple.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is rigid and you would not have much option to opt from the available subjects. You have the minimum requirement of atleast 8-10 students to opt for any subject. The problem for opting subject electives is that the department does not possess enough faculty to support the course.
Internships Opportunities
Yes internship is provided by the college but there is not assurance of it. Also there is no provision of stipend, most of the students don't get stipend.
Placement Experience
Placement w.r.t. the fees charged is permissible. The average package is of around 4.5 lakhs. However the placement percentage is below 50%. Last year highest placement was 9 lakhs and lowest was 3.5 lakhs. Most of the companies visiting are IT companies of startups.
College Events
There are no notable events from the MBA department as they do not support the students. However, we have 3 major events in NITT namely, Festember(this is a national level cultural event with guests like Pritam, Sachin and Jigar, Guns and Hoses band from US), Pragyan(this the biggest tech fest in India which is ISO certified and is something to be proud of) and NITTFEST(this is the intra NITT sports fest, participants from different departments take part in various sorts representing there department).
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee of the course, being a government Institute is quiet low, as low as 3 lakhs for two years including hostel fee. The fees has to be paid in 4 equal installments every 6 months. There are charges for late fee submission but can be avoided by writing an application to the hostel conveyor.
Fees and Financial Aid
I haven't heard of any scholarship for MBA department, but people here are studying with some private scholarships. However, there is a quota system for ST/SC candidates and there fees is quiet low.
Campus Life
Gender ratio seems to be healthy around the campus but yes we lack good looking girls since it is situated in remote area of Tamil nadu. Most of the students are tamilians. The campus offers a boast of extra-curricular activities like all kind of sports including swimming and other activities like photography, foreign language, traveling, etc through club activities.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is good considering you get single rooms in your final year and this time even first year students got single rooms. There are 6-7 options to choose from different mess like North mess, south mess, Andhra mess, kerela mess, pure veg mess, etc.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network of NITT is very resourceful, rich and helpful but same cannot be said for the MBA department. The alumni network is very much weak, those who get out of here do not wish to be contacted. Those who are in contact do not offer any help.
Exam Structure
Exam structure is very hectic. Almost every second month you have exams. It's either internals or final exams. Sometimes you have to write two exams on the same day. The marking is biased and you get marks to write shit but it should be long to fill the answer sheets.
Faculty
The permanent staff is way below the standard. They lack the willingness to teach, and are just completing there hours for salary. Most of teachers are inflexible towards their teaching style and course material. They are using the same material that they used 10 years back.
