Remarks

The admission process is really smooth and simple. The paperwork can be made a little less mundane though. Admission is through all India counseling under NEET. The fees are a bit on the higher side when considering government medical colleges. Students don't get to know where the different types of fees like infrastructure and developmental fees go.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The first year is divided into 3 terms and exams are conducted at the end of every term. The second-year also consists of 3 terms. The 3rd minor and 3rd major years are divided into 2 terms only. The last term of every year has the prelims exams at the end which consist of the syllabus of the whole year. Thus, they act as an effective preparatory indicator for students before the university exams at the end of the year. All the term exams are considered internal exams and a minimum passing aggregate of 50 percent in individual subjects are necessary to appear for the university exams. Internal exams are relatively difficult to pass in comparison to the prelims where the marking is a bit lenient. University exams have seen a changing trend in terms of passing percentage in recent years. Last year, 45 students failed to pass in 1 or more subjects in the first year compared to 6 students in the year preceding it. Another chance is given to the students who fail in the UT with the supply exams

Internships Opportunities

4

The compulsory internship of IGGMC is not a very sought out opportunity and some students seek externships in their home towns although there are very few people like this. But the work ex is there and you get to experience real hospital conditions. Some interns might feel that they are overworked and underpaid though.

Placement Experience

5

This is a medical college, you don't get companies here, but yes, you can get employed directly after your Mbbs In your college itself and can get a hefty salary of Rs. 75,000 working as a casualty medical officer. Other options include working as a house officer in the department of your choice with a reduced salary of 45,000.

Fees and Financial Aid

A compulsory internship at the end of 4.5 years of MBBS is in place for students. Students work in the hospital with daily duties in different departments which gives them proper doctor work experience. A stipend of 10,800 is provided per month which is considered to be on the lower side when you compare it with central institutions.

Campus Life

2

Rotaract club of IGGMC is the major club that conducts different types of events and provides students with leadership opportunities. Other than that, the student association (IGGMC), IGGMC book club, the college magazine aka "syncytium", Instagram page "IGGMC got talent" and DAMSA organizations are present at the UG level.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

For girls, the hostel facility is adequate and self sufficient. Girls basically fight with each other over the colour of walls, so they have that luxury which is basically so pathetic. Boys have to fight for rooms and really struggle. There are 3 hostels for boys at the UG level. The new boys hostel is a luxury that UG students except the first years get. The first year students live in the Jawahar hostel which isn't that great but still livable but the "Subhash hostel" in which the interns are forced to live is in a dilapidated condition where water gets logged on the ground floor in the rainy season. Mess in boys hostel is non existent and almost everyone gets there food from the girls hostel.

Curriculum is quite hectic but interesting as well. Even if it's boring, it's important to study for the benefit of common people. Moreover, there are a total of nineteen subjects that you have to study in your complete MBBS.

Course Curriculum Overview:

MBBS is definately a tough course. along with being tough, it also puts some responsibilities on your shoulders as you will be treating real people with real problems in the real world as you complete this course. while studying, students should focus more on 'why' and 'how' type questions than 'what' type of questions. the major exams are conducted in 9 semesters . each semester is of 6 months + 1 year of compulsary internship.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The current curriculum is comprehensive based curriculum. Here practical knowledge is more important than bookish knowledge. So now spending more time in wards is of greater importance. Exams are held accordingly - 2 internals, 1 prilims and 1 University held by MUHS. Each exam is followed by practical examination. This curriculum will help to build good doctors rather than bookish doctors.
