Remarks
I appeared for JEE Mains through which any student can apply for admission to this college with a decent rank. I got a good rank in my Mains exam and applied for the Chemical Engineering branch in MANIT Bhopal through the JOSAA counselling that happens after the JEE is concluded every year. There are 7 rounds in the JOSAA admission process and you are asked to provide a list of colleges along with the preferred branch you would take admission in, then based on your rank and cutoff based on the result that year, a college is allotted to you after each round (it's not necessary a college will be allotted to you after every round, it depends on your rank, the college list you filled and the cutoff for that year). You can either take admission in the allotted college or you can choose the Float option if you want a college higher on your college preference list in further rounds. If your rank and cutoff allow, you might be allotted the college of higher preference in further rounds.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Chemical Engineering as it was the best branch I was getting in the best possible college based on my JEE Mains rank. As I did not have any specific preference for any branches I went with whatever branch I was getting. In Chemical Engg, in our batch, there are almost 70 students with different faculty members for different subjects each semester. The faculty is mostly experienced in teaching while some professors are new in this line but overall the teaching quality is satisfactory and most of the professors are really dedicated to teaching their subject. The term exams are conducted as per the annual schedule released at the start of every year. These exams are moderate in level and can be passed with adequate studies.
Internships Opportunities
There are many companies that visit to provide students opportunities to do internships in their company such as Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, etc. for various roles depending on the branch you are in. However, the maximum internship opportunities are for the students in the CSE branch as most of the companies are looking for students with technical expertise.
Placement Experience
The campus placements are quite good of MANIT Bhopal as the college holds a good reputation. The placements start in and around June in the 4th year of the student. All the top companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, etc. with maximum placements in the Computer Science branch with the highest average package of around 12.5 LPA CTC for the CSE branch. The placement of the rest of the branches is also good enough as there is almost 80-90% of students placed with an average package of around 6.5 LPA. The highest package offered ranges from 40 LPA to 50 LPA while the average package for all branches included is around 6-7 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Being a government college, the fees are quite appropriate and it stays the same as of the time when you took admission in the college. There are lower fees for students enrolling with family income between Rs. 1 Lakh and Rs. 5 Lakh and no tuition fees for students with family income less than Rs. 1 Lakh. There are also lesser fees for students with reservations. The ROI (Return on Investment) is very good for this college as the placements are really good in this college for almost all branches as the college has good brand value among the companies which attracts a plethora of companies in the campus placements.
Campus Life
Overall life on the campus is decent with a really huge campus of more than 500 acres to explore. Most of the buildings on the campus are really old considering the year the college was built in, but they are well maintained. The Tech fest of MANIT is called Technofest and is held in October while the annual fest is called Maffick which is held in February each year. The library of MANIT is really huge with all the course books available in the library and more to satisfy your curiosity as well as course needs but there are little or no novels available in the library. There is a football ground, a sports complex (for Table Tennis, Badminton, and other indoor sports), a cricket ground for sports activities. There are also various clubs and social groups on the campus of various fields which gives students great exposure as well as good interaction with the seniors who are really helpful.
Hostel Facilities
The room is quite small for a triple occupancy in the first year but after some time you get accustomed to it. There are three beds given along with 2 tables and 2-3 chairs in every room along with 2 cupboards to keep your belongings in, but you have to bring your own mattress which you can buy in the general store present in the hostel on the ground floor. The best thing probably is the balcony in the rooms provided you get a room not on ground floor. There is a common toilet and bathroom with 2 provided on each floor. Mess food quality is decent and you can get used to it but it can certainly be better. The hostel fees have to be paid altogether for the whole year and when you take admission, you can then go to the hostel for registration and get a room allotted to you as per vacancy in the hostel.
Other Applied Colleges
SVNIT Surat | Chemical Engineering
As this college was further from my home in Indore while Bhopal is nearby Indore so I chose MANIT.
