LIFE IN NIEPMD

Admission will be based on common entrance test conducted in the college itself. And the applicant must register prior to the end date and the form has to be posted to the institution before due date. The application form fee is 500 when I was applying. The process of admission goes in order of entrance exam then 1st counselling for selected candidates and 2 nd counselling for other set of candidates. They score candidates by categories(obc, st/sc). The entrance text contain physics,chemistry, general quiz, english, maths/biology. More information regarding application and processing can be found in the course portal in niepmd web address. The campus offers more exposure in multi disability services than specific disorder. We get more knowledge than our particular course info.

I choose this course since many are not aware of this course. I came to explore many new things other than my stream subjects also since its a multi disciplinary institute. Our lectures are well equipped with all instruments in audio department with greater experience. And they teach so well by both board lecture and also virtual class settings. We can seek clinical supervisiors help to explore more than theory knowledge. This speech therapy is totally different thing to understand. Its completely based on the practice you expose to. Our faculty makes you well trained for all the test tool assessment and also in techniques while taking therapy.

We have 10 months of internship program in total 4 years of total course. 5 months we will be working in NIEPMD itself and other 5 months we will shifted to other hospital or centres by course coordinator. But we won't be having paid internships here since we come under Ministry of social justice and empowerment. During our internship period attendance must be 90% otherwise compensation period will be conducted.

Fee structures: Tuition fee = 40000/yr, Hostel fee = 18000/yr(hostel within campus only for girls) Mess fee = 3500/month (depend upon mess committee). Hostel will be provided to girls only for 2 years of your course duration. Hostel facility is overall good. They provide 1 table&chair, 1 bed+cot and pillows too. Incase of power cut, hostel hall lights will be used as an emergency light. No washing machine or laundry system. It contains common fridge for each hostel. And the room capacity will be decided by hostel committee. In NIEPMD, there is no special scholarships than national government scholarships portals. Since its a central government college they dont have reservation seat also. Whenever the scholarship portal begins, you will be notified by you staff members to register it. This course is separated by 3 years + 1 year(Internship). For internship they won't provide stipend since its under Ministry of social justice and empowerment. Overall academic fee is worthable.

We have several special days to celebrate (eg; autism awareness week, stuttering day, etc.) In those days of celebration we will be having elocution, writing, painting, mimicry, debating, skits, etc.. will be conducted for all HRD staffs and trainees. We will be having common sports day fest, cultural which will be conducted yearly once in months of September-November. Intracollege competition will be conducted. Regarding library facilities, the resourced books in our textbooks are available in hard copy and also in soft copy. We can access free wifi campus when we get registered with our id cards. There is no dress codebut professional ethics would be followed by us. Senior-junior meetings and fun based programs will be there. Ragging is strictly prohibited and have a separate portal to monitor the anti-ragging community. We have beach behind our campus so the view and relaxed atmosphere will tend us to love the campus more and more.

Registeration process for hostel will be combined with tuition admission for girls. Here girls can accommodate only two years of total academic duration and the boys are staying in PG hostel and rental home near Kelambakkam,Kovalam and kanathur (all these places are near to our college). Fee structure: 18000/ year. And mess fee will be changing with mess contract within NIEPMD hostel. In hostel they will be providing, 1 chair 1table 1 cupboard (5 shelfs) 1 bed 1 cot and 1 pillow. Here rooms are either 4 sharing, 2 sharing, and 6 sharing. Peoples will be placed according to their course students in hostel. Outing is possible only with the permission of hostel warden. If the outing is in week days course coordinator sign is must and the timing in week days is 5 to 7 pm. In week ends we should return before 7pm.
