Remarks
University of Rajasthan provided a good curriculum for my course in Economics. One needs to score minimum 50% in the 12th standard to secure admission into the university. The final offer letter will be based on merit only. There is no other specific criteria for the admission. I have been admitted under the OBC (Other Backward Classes) category.
Course Curriculum Overview
There are a lot of specializations under which the BA (Hons.) program is offered - Hindi, English, Urdu, Sanskrit, Philosophy, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Economics, Geography, and Psychology. The entire course is of 3 years divided into 3 parts. In part 1, it is necessary to study compulsory subjects along with 2 elementary ones. Professors taught each and every topic in detail and made sure that each student understood well.
Placement Experience
You can sit for the placements in the last semester of your course. Numerous companies participated in the placements. Some of them were 99acres.com, Airtel, Axis Bank, Coca-Cola, ICICI, ICICI Prudential, IndusInd Bank, just dial, Nestle, Oracle and Pepsi. I didn't sit for the placements as I planned on doing Masters in Economics before sitting for the job.
Fees and Financial Aid
Studying BA at Rajasthan University is quite affordable. I spent a total of Rs.25000 for the entire course. I didn't apply for any scholarship. However, there are scholarships for the SC/ST which you can avail for this course. The detail information of these can be checked from the government website.
Campus Life
Majorly, Academic events were organized on the campus. Talking about the course events, I attended only guest lectures from some of the great economic experts of the industry. Rajasthani Festivals were also celebrated which usually attracted a huge amount of audience. Overall, I would say that the campus life at university is ok.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities provided by the university were very nominal, so I lived in a PG nearby the university. I found the amenities much better in PG as compared to the hostel. I used to walk to the campus, so the daily expense was also the least. Per month cost of the PG was Rs.8000 with food, electricity and water I lived in twin-sharing and meal quality was also very good. I enjoyed my stay there for those 3 years.
