Mohit's pov of SRM

First of all the eligibility to fill the application through the management quota is 60% in pcm and another option is to give SRMJEE. Exam applications can be filled through their official website while offline also we can get applications at Katankulatur campus.

I did chose this programme because of my interest in automobiles and machines. Faculty student ratio is very good as in class 50 students sits normally and on them there is one teacher which is enough and in labs the class gets decided in two parts of 25 students each so the equipment can be accessed by each student properly. Most of the faculty members had masters degree in their respective fields and some even had Ph.D. It was pretty easy to pass in exams if studied even normally and there are totally 4 exams per semesters from which 3 are class test of 10,20,50 or 100 marks of last one which are internal and after that one final exam per semesters of 100 marks.

Students were allowed to participate in placement drive from seventh semester onward. There were many companies like TCS, Paytm, Amazon, Infosys and many more companies in both the mechanical core and IT sector. Average package given by these companies hover around 5-6 lacs per annum while there were some companies like paypal with 42 lacs per annum. Around 50% of the students got selected in mass recruiting companies while some of the other got placed in good companies. The students with running arrears were not allowed to participate in placements so with them many didn't join the placements because they wanted to do higher studies. I myself is persuing masters in industrial engineering.

Fee Structure is discussed at the time of admission only and after there were no hike in fee for whole BTech program. I did not got any scholarship as I took admission through management quota but if someone had scored good rank in SRM jee then he/she will get good scholarship and university topper gets 50% fee reduction scholarship after every year. I did not got job as I had backlogs during the placement.

There were many tech fests conducted by each department in our college at Vadapalani in which we from the mechanical department used to conduct event called Kratorq while the main campus had different fests too like AYUSH. Books were readily available in library to read and lend through I-card. There was a canteen too in our college and in main campus at KTR also was campus with disco and subway restaurant at java Green. Almost all sorts of sports were available at the campus. There are different groups too like supra from mechanical, white hat hackers from cse and many more.

In the first year, we didn't know much about the city so we preferred to stay in a college hostel only but after that, we moved out of the hostel to a rented apartment near the college, the main reason was south Indian food which not so kin of. Registration for the hostel was pretty easy. The apartment which we rented was pretty close to campus only in Vadapalani.
