Remarks

When compared to other deemed universities in Tamilnadu, Sastra's tuition fees is quite affordable and cheap. The admission is strictly based on merit and there is no donation or reservation. The seniors here are so friendly and there nothing called ragging here as the anti-ragging squad will be in rounds. The hostel life here would be great and you can adapt to this new life very easily.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I decided to pursue B. Tech Mechanical engineering after my 12th grade. But I came to know about B. Tech Mechatonics, A specialization program which is a combination of mechanical and electronics. I chose this program since it has a wider scope and I could gain knowledge in multiple fields. The faculties here are of great knowledge and teaching experience. Most of them have mastered the domain in which they are into and there are even some research scholars pursuing phd and teaching the First year students. The students ratio in Mechanical, Aero, Mechatronics, Civil are 90 boys : 10 girls. Some faculties are really friendly and are very lenient when it comes in evaluation whereas in other hand there are some faculties who does not even give marks and make it very difficult to clear the paper. There are totally three CIA's (continuous internal assessment ) which takes place every 1 and half month once. The third CIA is optional if you score well in the first 2 CIA's. Again having a good internals is 50% based on how much effort you put before your exam and 50% on the faculty you choose.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Sastra offers various internship opportunities for the students on their domain. Just make sure you register for it.

Placement Experience

4

Students are asked to fill the required forms for the campus placements from 5th semester. You can check the list of companies visited to the college from sastra.edu . Sastra offers excellent placement opportunities where nearly 95% of the students gets placed.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Sastra's fee structure is quite affordable and cheap when compared to all the deemed universities in Tamilnadu. Since the admission is based on merit each and every branch/department of B.tech has the same tuition fee. If you are and hosteller, The average food cost for the food is 3500/month which has to be paid every month. The hostel fees for the first year students is 12500/month which is the cheapest I've seen so far. The hostel fees for the second,Third and fourth year depends on the hosteland type of rooms you choose.Sastra completely guide you to avail the scholarships offered by the government.Apart from that College itself offers some scholarships for hostel students, And to the students who are eligible for the Dean's merit list in which certain amount of money will be credited to your bank amount. Sastra offers excellent Job opertunities as mostly everyone would get placed other than the students who wish to pursue their PG. But many companies who come here are IT companies and hardly you'll get placed in a core company.

Campus Life

4

Cultural fest - KuruksastraTech fest - DakshSports fest - Colloseum Sastra's cultural fest is one of the biggest fest that happens in the TN colleges. Sastra has the best cultural team ever. There also some intra college fests like carpe dium, utsav. There is a central library which is located inside the campus where you can spend your time reading and also you can take the books you wanted but make sure you return the boom within the due date. Classroom has projectors through which ppt's are displayed and though to the students. There are N number of clubs/groups for each department here .There are technical/non technical group as well. You would be lucky if you are an hostel students so that you can play the outdoors games you want once the classes are over. Even day scholars can play but many have to travel long to reach their houses and leave early since the college is located in highways. There are many meme pages in social media's like instagram where the seniors will post some funny memes about college life but also give valuable information and guide the juniors in correct path. There is only one official website led by the college officials

Hostel Facilities

3

There are totally 13 hostels7- Boys5- GirlsThe hostel life is quite good here. Being a first year student, You will be randomly allocated with a room which comprises of 5 people. There will be a common restroom and bathroom in each wing for each floor. There will be a common mess in ground floor for every hostel and also there will be stationary shop where stationaries and snacks are available. The food here won't be that good but you would start liking if you are adapted to it. The Menu given here is nutritious and will be changed monthly twice.

Admission

There is no interview as such here. The admission is based on merit and the rank list released by the university which is again based on the 12th marks and jee mains for B. Tech. There are 2 streams in the admission for B. Tech. Stream 1 is 75% of 12th marks and 25% of JEE whereas stream 2 is entirely based on 12th marks. Usually the councilling takes place for admission process and on an average there will be 5 rounds.
