I had applied to two colleges, Goa University and Symbiosis Pune. I went on to enroll myself in Goa university because it was close to my house. I had to answer an entrance exam for biotechnology. When the results were out, they informed us through telephonic communication. Our previous degree or course marks were also taken into consideration and the list was put out of the selected students. On the first day, we had an introductory session where everything was explained to us in detail and our queries were answered.
Course Curriculum Overview
I am interested in Biotechnology, hence decided to pursue it. Goa University was the first college that came to my mind. The students and the faculty coordinate well with each other, which makes things easier. The faculty is well qualified for their respective teaching subjects, which helps students to clear their concepts. Small tests are conducted regularly for students to be in rhythm with the class. Exams are always on time and well organized.
Fees and Financial Aid
For biotechnology, I had to pay 14,000 per year because the course was assisted by the government. The course had only 30 seats, out of which 10 seats were saved for applicants out of Goa. For other courses at Goa university, there are scholarships available.
Campus Life
Goa university campus and infrastructure are very well maintained. One can never regret joining the College, there is a wide range of courses available. The balance between academics and extracurricular activities is at equilibrium. 'Pleutonica' is the name of the annual event, and students actively participate in the same. The annual sports day is well organized on-campus large ground. The library has thousands of books for references and research. There are also clubs and groups which help students be socially active.
