Entrance Preview

IIT JEE Mains-104 marks, BITSAT-240 marks, I wanted to get enrolled in Computer Science and Engineering as computers was always my favourite field of interest. I never thought of opting any other course. I didn't score good marks in entrances, so I needed to get into a college which had enough opportunities and good placement record, and CU is one of them.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The curriculum is same as found at all private engineering colleges. The course is not difficult. Those students who never studied computer science before don't need to worry. Everything about computer is covered starting from the basics. The curriculum is not focussed on research, but an individual can himself study properly about his field of interest as basics of the course is covered.

Internships Opportunities

College doesn't provide much internship opportunities. There are still opportunities, which are grabbed by talented students only. The stipend is not known to me as I just cleared my first semester. Internship opportunities are not great.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement scene in CU is pretty clear. CU pays hefty money to invite various companies to placement drive every year. Only talented students can crack the interviews. CU conducts open placement drives, which means students from other colleges would also compete with CU's students, which is another challenge.

College Events

5

There are countless events happening in CU. If someone likes these events, CU is the place for them. Various competitions are organised now and then and many students participate in them. Cultural events happen very frequently, as CU's administration calls different celebrities very often. People who like to showcase their talent like singing, dancing would get ample opportinuties in CU.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure varies from course to course. In short, the fee structure is very feasible compared to other private colleges. The fees for one semester is Rs 64500 for BE Computer Science. Considering the facilities provided, the fees seems pretty appropriate.

Fees and Financial Aid

CU provides great scholarship opportunities for meritorious students. The student who score more than 85% or more in 12th boards get scholarships. The loan facilities provided are also pretty good. There are couple of banks in college campus and getting loan is very easy.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is very good in CU. The campus is pretty clean and is full of greenary. There are couple of playground for out door sports, 2 basketball courts, one tennis courts, cricket training nets. The sports equipment are provided by college itself by submitting ID cards. Various competitions are organised for different courses.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel facilities are pretty good. The internet services provided are very good. It is a 100 mbps LAN connection at every room. Each student gets his own LAN port. The wifi services are good as well. The food is above average at hostel. The variety of food is excellent. Students would not get bored due to the food variety provided. Gym facilities are provided for all hostel students.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors of college are very friendly and helpful. The Alumni network is huge in case of CU. CU calls its alumni several time to encourage students and let them know how the alumni worked in academics. The seniors and alumni provide all types of information to their juniors.

Exam Structure

The exam structure might look complicated. The final CGPA of a students depends on internal exams, external exams, assignments, practicals, surprise tests etc. The internal theory exams consists of unit tests. External exams are conducted within the college covering the whole semester's syllabus. The marks are distributed to different elements.

Admission

I was notified about CU outside my coaching centre by the agents. I decided to give it a shot if I don't make it to IITs. Later, I went to CU's office in New Delhi and filled the admission form and paid Rs 10000. The administration was very good and helpful and all details were provided beforehand. The pending fees was paid in July to confirm my admission in the college.

Faculty

3

The faculty is not top class at all. It can be considered average. Faculty teachers of computer subjects are the only ones who care about students gaining knowledge instead of passing exams. Other faculty just covers the syllabus without giving you reasons which might interest students to that particular subject. The lab assistants are newly post graduated students who don't get job anywhere and don't have much knowledge.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum changes as per the need of the industry norms so that student can attain knowledge about the basics as well as the niche technologies. This is the aspect to choose the course and the lab work and continuous competitions help us with the industry trends. The management could be improved. The frequency of exams help us learn well and difficulty is between easy to medium.

Placement Experience:

The student become eligible for campus placements from 5th semester. The companies visited per year are approximately 200. They claim 100% placements but in reality they divide students into placement and non- placement batches called tpp and ntpp. If you slip up even once, you will be debarred from the tpp group. The highest package is 53 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA. Companies like JP Morgan, TCS, Capgemini, PlaySimple, Cognizant, Nokia, Philips, Morgan Stanley, PWC, KPMG, EPAM, Watchguard, High radius, OYO, Coding Ninjas, Samsung, etc have already came. More companies are yet to come. Since the student intake is too much, placements are really hard to get since there is too much competition. In the end, people get hired in mass recruitment companies and get minimum pay of 3-4 lpa. My plans are apply for off-campus jobs and start working in corporate after the degree. If I don't get a job, I haven't decided what I will do next.
